About
Stumpy Lake Golf Course is a Robert Trent Jones design that provides a unique golfing experience. This scenic layout is routed across a 1,400-acre nature preserve that is absent of any commercial or residential development for miles. The golf course wraps around its namesake lake, which has a canoe and kayak launch as well as a fishing pier. Deer, fox, and eagles are frequently seen on the course and there has even been the occasional bear sighting. Water has a prominent presence throughout and there are also several strategically placed bunkers. Stumpy Lake Golf Course is a layout that will force you to be creative with your shot making but it's still approachable enough for high handicappers to tackle with confidence. If you're looking to get in even more golf, sister club Honey Bee is located almost right next door.

Nice course, great setting
Front 9 in a little rougher shape than back, greens were a little rugged 1-3, then improved dramatically, and had just been punched. Back 9 is beautiful, projecting out onto a point in the lake. Some surprising, hard to see water for first time players, unless you have an app to map course.
Pace of play slow on the front, folks in front of us dropped out after 9 and we did not have to wait at all on the back.
Will definitely go back.
Fun course
I've played stumpy for many years. It's always a good time. The course condition comes and goes, being a little less than ideal in recent years. But it always seems to come around so hopefully we will see that this season! Regardless for the money it's a worthwhile course for sure
Great Course and Very Remote
Had a fantastic time on this course, the layout was challenging, greens made you think and overall was a good time! Definitely will be back!
A nice day in course
Stumpy is definitely one of the best courses I have played since working in the Norfolk area this year. I was a single so I was paired with 3 other golfers. This made play fairly slow and we also had golfers ahead of us likely scrambling and causing us to pause at every tee box. Overall I had a great time and recommend the course.
Stumpy - $39 is a fair price, just.
So much potential but lacking polish
Greens were ok but some holes lookkwd very patchy
Some tee boxes were sand boxes and desperately need attention
Good carts
Pace of play could have been better managed.
No hot food ready at the turn :(
A Fair Neighborhood Course
OK course if others not available. Driving range balls are old and there's too much sand in soil. Course Tees and greens are not in good shape. Clubhouse and grill are kept clean. Grill and food are fast and good.
