Golfer Reviews
Lee's Place
Lee Trevino has created a real gem, a fair test for anyone. The course staff have it in good shape, the greens are really fast.. A fun day !!!
Always in great condition.
The course is in excellent condition for all the dry, hot weather we've had in southwest Florida. The staff is very friendly. If your in SW Florida this is a must to play.
Great course design
Very well maintained and friendly staff.
Generous fairway width & quick greens
First round of the trip
Layout was straight forward and fairway landing area were generous. Greens were quick and smooth without much undulation or break.
A good public/ resort course in the Naples area.
Layout somewhat boring
Too many houses. Sparse vegetation.
A good course. Not pretty with all the houses on both sides.
Good value on a strong course.
The greens will test you. Avoid the water and you have a playable lay out.
Bunkers come into play but are well kept.
OK
played on 2/23/16 on the Mustang course
I was out at 7am as a single - pace of play was great but it should be I was the first one out on the course. The course is OK, not great, not awful. I always judge courses on how many of the holes stand out in my mind after playing 18, there might have been one or two. The course was in really nice shape and the practice area was nice, which made it an overall positive experience.
If your from up north like me this is a good course to get out on. The fairways were pretty wide open the green rolled true and were quick (which always makes golf better when the green are real good and these were). The biggest complaint I have is the cost, 140 for a round on a course that you have very few memorable holes is way too costly. I get it, it's Florida in the winter but when I can play Bethpage Black for $75 as a NY'er the bar is set high for value and quality.
If you can get a good rate, it's worth a round here, if you are paying the full rate- it wouldn't be a course for me
Magic Touch Required
Fair but challenging course. We paid 115.00 @ 1:12PM If your used to playing up north, don't play tees too far back. We played from about 6300 yards and that was plenty far. The winds down here blow pretty much all day and crosswinds, soft fairways, and uphill approaches all combine to make every shot longer, than playing up north. Greens were very slick but held most shots. You gotta be a picker and not a digger on these courses especially when they are a bit wet and this has been a rough month for most courses down here.
Challenging but fair, nice layout water on most holes but not overbearing. Greens fast very smooth and short.Chipping will make or break you on this course! You gotta land it on short approaches will not roll on.
Little to no break on most puts that look to break 8 inches or less. Play before 130 PM if you want to get in before sunset this time of year. pace of play steady but we waited about a minute on each tee or second shot. Hit up the cart girl the first time you see her on the front. We didn't see her again until 15.
Very good round
Although the course was wet and it was cart path only the course was laid out nicely with enough of a challenge for handicappers around 12 without having to worry about water on every hole.
The course actually switched us from the Flamingo to The Mustang course for the same tee time because the Flamingo was closed due to water which was a nice touch. Overall a good round at a good course that offers public tee times which in Naples is challenging to find. So many private courses in Naples that finding The Mustang was terrific! I will definitely be back if we can find tee times.
Bad from the start
I had a 1:20 tee time. They changed it to 1:40 because one of their courses was closed. I arrived at noon but the driving range and chipping area were closed. I understood because it had rained the previous 2 days. Cart path only ... A pain but I'm still fine. When I don't tee off until after 2 o'clock ... Now I am upset. Paid over a hundred dollars for fifteen holes of golf as it was dark at 6:15. Called the course the next day and was told they can't control the weather. Very disappointing!!!
Solid layout, wonderful greens
OK, so the day we played followed a night of really bad storms - the course was really wet and it was really, really windy! But, the course held up well. We were on cart paths only, but that was OK. Although the course was really wet, the greens were darn good - firm, fast and true. I would definitely play it again, and recommend it to others.
Excellent design, challenging, greens in great shape
The mustang course was is excellent shape from tee to green. Greens rolled true and were very very fast. Nice design with challenges yet not over-bearing
Great course!
The Mustang has a lot of challenging options from the tees. The fairways are well designed that fairly reward decent tee shots and even the long ball hitters who go offline a little. There is plenty of trouble but it can be avoided if you know where to miss. The greens were absolutely stellar (true) and very, very fast. Be careful to check the lines from all sides if you have time. Loved it from the practice areas - nice short game green and long range by the way - to the 18th green. Having a beer at Sam Snead's afterwards was the bomb.
Best public course in Naples
I've played Lelys two courses many times.
This time was the mustang. The greens are fabulous on the mustang right now. They rolled fast and true and are still very receptive. We were a twosome and caught up with a single who was behind a a few groups. Starter could do a better job of pairing groups up instead of relying on golfers to sort it out on course.
Although the Lely is a little pricey it is still one of the better values in Naples
Excellent condition
Course was in excellent condition. Greens were smooth and fast. We played both courses. Both courses are good layouts. The Mustang has slightly wider fairways and is more fore giving. Pace of play was 4 hours on a very busy day. Driving range is all grass. They have a very nice chipping green with a well maintained practice bunker. There are 2 putting greens. One of the best facilities in SW Florida. We will definitely play here again. Highly recommended.
Great play, great value.
Good practice tees and putting. Friendly and helpful staff. Tees, greens, fairways and rough well maintained. Challenging play with ample water hazards and bunkers. Relaxing scenery surrounding. Excellent GPS in cart.
Tee selection from score card a bit confusing (could be simpler).
Excellent value with Golf Now discounted price.
Great Round
Mustang is one of my favourite courses to play in Naples. It is always well maintained. The staff was excellent and friendly. I will be back many more times
Cood challenging course
Played the Mustang course. The weaker of the two courses. Greens are small and require very accurate approach shot to hold them.
Fairways have been recently over seeded for the winter months. Greens are small and flat, but very quick.
The course is a good test of golf. Staff are friendly and courteous.
