A 238-yard par 3, a 259-yard par 4, a treacherous hole called the "Train Wreck" and a five-hole stretch around a cavernous dry lake dubbed "Crater Junction" all help make the semi-private Zellwood Station Golf Club unique. Featuring hilly terrain not often seen at Florida golf courses, the George Maddox design, which opened in 1974, is a challenge. Located about 30 minutes from Orlando, Zellwood Station G.C. is known to be in good shape, especially the greens.

Pace of play

Course allowed fivesomes to play together. Took 5 hours to play 18 with a three someone, waited every hole. Will not recommend or go back. Golf Now should vent these courses. Drove an hour to get there and an hour to get home. Ended up to be 8 hours for a round of golf on a Tuesday morning. Not a good look for Golf Now.

Not up to their par

have been playing here for a number of years and the first time the course was in marginal shape. The pro shop staff was friendly and helpful. however, the grill staff was quite disinterested in even waiting on our group. Nothing like previous experiences.

Great course

As always, great course. Don’t rely on them having any food products. This is the fourth time they shut down food for the whole day leaving the boys stranded for the rest of the day on a 11 a.m. tee time…

Slow pace, no starter to stagger

Thin fairways, difficult course to play but very slow. Ton of hills which don’t allow you to see when to tee off. Got hit into a few times

Challenging

This course provides for a challenging round of golf. The course has everything; water, elevation changes, undulating greens, and hazard areas. The greens can be very tough depending on the location of the pin that day. The tee box, fairways, and greens were all in good conditions. Get out of the fairway and you may be hitting from rough, loose sand, hardpan, or tree roots. I enjoyed the challenge.

Will not return

Terrible pace of play - will take 6 hours to play 18. The behavior of the "members" was childish.

4 hours to play 11 holes?

Finally had to walk off the course after it took almost 4 hours to complete 11 holes. The first tee box is pretty chaotic - long lines of carts waiting to play, members trying to skip the line, etc. Neither the starter or pro shop have any control over the clientele; probably why start times were delayed by 30 minutes. They also schedule tee times only 7 minutes apart, which is a recipe for disaster in a slow moving retirement community like Zellwood.

Great value

First time playing this course and it didn't disappoint. Our tee time was at 11:26 and it is more of go when you're ready type facility. With no starter and a high amount of players being members, there isn't really a "tee time". We were a 2some and paired up with a local single, and played close to a 5 hour round. There were 2 4somes ahead of us that didn't allow us to play very quickly. A handful of blind tee shots over the hill didn't make it any easier to know when it was safe to tee off.

The course is in great shape and everyone is very friendly. There is no water available on the course and the bev cart is cash only. I would play here again if I was in the area again.
