Zellwood Station & Country Club
About
A 238-yard par 3, a 259-yard par 4, a treacherous hole called the "Train Wreck" and a five-hole stretch around a cavernous dry lake dubbed "Crater Junction" all help make the semi-private Zellwood Station Golf Club unique. Featuring hilly terrain not often seen at Florida golf courses, the George Maddox design, which opened in 1974, is a challenge. Located about 30 minutes from Orlando, Zellwood Station G.C. is known to be in good shape, especially the greens.

Hole # 10 Photo submitted by webelos on 11/17/2013
Still my favorite
I love Zellwood station. Tees fairways and greens folks.
Who cares about the rest. 3 really nice par 5's on this course. A huge crater and much more. Derel and the starter are awesome. Try it you won't be disappointed
Good conditions....
This course is always fun to play. Even more fun when the fairways are in good condition! There are still bare and thin areas in the rough like a lot of the courses in the area, but if you stay in the fairways no problem!
Greens were good but a bit slow due to long grass, but better than being bare sand.
Wish everyone fixed their ball marks on the greens.
Improved
We have played this course many times. Previously we had been disappointed in the condition of the course, so we quit playing it for a while. We were pleasantly surprised and want to commend the grounds keeper. The condition of this course has improved significantly and we enjoyed our round because of it.
Thank you,
Tim
Meh
Overall I would say this is a terrific place to play beer-league golf. So-so course with some god-awful golfers (round avg time of about 5.5 hours for me), but you can’t find a round for cheaper in Orlando. Would recommend steering clear of the locals and course vets unless you’re feeling froggy, most that I’ve run into seem to be angry that they’re golfing??
Zellwood
Zellwood is always a fun, challenging course. The conditions of the course were great for peak dry and busy season in Central Florida, with overseeding giving the fairways a nice thick green look and feel. The 9th hole"trainwreck" always lives up to it's name, and the back 9 around the crater is a hoot. Always on my list for great value and playability in the area.
Rural Country Club Atmosphere
Lots of locals playing here. Very busy. Not my type of courses. Greens , fairways & tee boxes were ok. Cart paths very bumpy. Lots if bare spots in the rough. Priced right at $50 but I’m not going back.
Golf Now said $106.00 due at course. At the pro shop I was told that it would be $112.90. He said that there were extra charges.
It was Okay
The fairways were in good shape and the greens were hit or miss. Definitely nothing to cry about. I love the layout of the course, especially with all the elevation changes. The rough was rougher than what it should be. Had to pick and place my ball several times in the rough due to the poor rough conditions. But hey, you get what you pay for. Overall the course is in good shape. And for this time of the year to only pay $50, I’ll be back LOL
Fun course in good shape.
The course is in good shape, tee to green. The edges are burned out as most courses this time of year. It has different elevations and blind shots, water and pit hazards. Overall a fun course and different than the usual Florida flat course.
Fun Course
Came in with low expectations, but this place was really fun and challenging. Greens and fairways were in great condition. Great time and will definitely put this in my rotation of places to play going forward.
You Get What You Pay For
The course actually is in decent shape, BUT the rough is rougher than what it should be…there was sand and dirt everywhere in the rough. Had to find grass to place my ball on several times. The fairways were in decent shape although the grass was thin and the lies were tight. There were some bare spots in the fairways in some places but it wasn’t a lot. The greens were hit or miss with some being perfect and some having bare spots, but overall they were satisfactory. This is a member heavy course and we played behind 4 really slow members so make sure you tee off before 8 to beat the slow members on the course. I love the layout, especially with all the elevation changes and curved fairways. Just wish the course was maintained a little better and the members didn’t act as if they owned the course. Who knows, maybe they do LOL
Rating
I chose this course off of golf now with it having a rating of 4 .5. I do nit see how it was that high of a rating in my opinion. The course is nice just like most hometown courses. The quality of the course was mediocre. The difficulty was above average and was a challenge. It was rated a 4.5 and I do nit believe it was
Yawn, Like anyone cares.
Head back to your overpriced country club...
Leave the rest of us to great golf at a great price.
