Zellwood Station & Country Club

First time playing this course. Glad we got paired with 2 other players who knew the course. Lots of blind tee shots. Good layout if you know where to hit it. Great staff. The pro shop and starter were friendly and helpful. Keep the ball below the hole on the greens. Lots of slope and very fast. Would play this course again.

We always play Zellwood when we are on vacation because the fairway grass was more like home in Wisconsin. But yesterday we were disappointed with the condition of the course. Greens were fast but in pretty good shape, but fairways had little grass and rough was sparse. Also we played the first half in about 1 hour 15 minutes, but a foursome started on number 10 right ahead of us on the back; so It took 2 1/2 hours on the back, waiting on every hole. The same thing happened last year, only worse because it was cold, too. Unfortunately, we won’t be back!

Great experience. Short course, but don’t let that fool you. If you’re hitting your spots here you can go low.

Fairways and greens very good condition.

I have played this course at least one time a year for the past 20 years or so and it just keeps getting better..

Zellwood Station golf course has multiple tees for all types of golfers and many older players enjoy the forward tees. The fairways are sparse but consistent and the greens have no sand on them and are in great shape if not a little slow. Changes in elevation, water and changes in direction (doglegs) make the course very interesting. Of particular challenge is the #14 par 5 which angles around "the crater". You will be challenged but not overwhelmed here. It is one of my favorite courses in the immediate area.

Excellent choice except the friendliness of the staff

Play was very slow. A fivesome in front of us. Course was notified by the group behind us, but didn't seem to care too much.

I would return again but if still slow, will not go back..

It is a course all golfers should try.

I finally played a golf course that had long been on my GolfNow radar. Its famous elevation changes recall the best holes at Mount Dora GC and the old Pallisades course. Each hole is unique and presents at least one interesting golf challenge. On some holes, fairways narrow right where the big hitter might want to land a drive: water to the left might be the penalty where one fairway narrows; a deep gully to the right might be the penalty where another narrows. You approach some greens from a valley to an elevated plateau. Others are approached from a hill top to a valley bottom. The holes around the crater are well-designed counter-clockwise fun. Winter grass on fairways and greens has come in well. Green speeds were average. Putts rolled true. Trees bordering fairways are pruned high to allow careful recovery shots from the rough, which is fairly short dormant grass. I had such a good time that I regretted not having driven the extra distance to play this course years ago.

My golf friends and I have played here many times over the years and enjoy the layout. Two of our golf buddies live south part of Orlando so it is a bit of a drive for them. About 3 Mos. ago we booked a tee time and when we got there to check in, the person behind the counter told me I was not wearing a golf shirt and could not play! I was wearing a new golf shirt (same shirt that we have seen Tiger wear all the time) He just said, you are not playing. We told him they made a long drive up there but," you are not playing." So we got our money back and left. I must repeat... it was a very nice "GOLF" shirt and not some rag ! We have not gone back again. I understand you have lots of people playing and you don't need our business but this seems a little snobbish. I hope to get a reply from management. ???

I try to be fair and give honest, impartial reviews. So let me start by saying I love this course. Florida golf typically lacks any kind of real elevation changes. This course has plenty! The natural layout is rare for Fl. There isn't a ton of money that goes into the course but there is no shortfall in pride. The fairways and putting greens were green. Hesitate to say,...plush. the greens were in great shape. Today the course kinda reminded me of golfing in Az with the contrast between the areas you want to be vs desert or in this case, scarred areas. There virtually is no rough but if you go off the fairways you will typically have a poor setup for your next shot.

Not the first place I woule bring an out-of-towner to but certainly worthy of a play.

Day after holiday, perfect weather makes for slower pace of play. Course was dry & fast. Over all great day.

Interesting and nice course, a few very tough holes, fairways and greens in good shape. Some elevations and terrain changes for variety as well. Friendly staff too! Senior community with well kept up areas off the course and some green space bordering some fairways for a pleasant visual as you play. Just played 9 holes today!
