Zellwood Station & Country Club
About
A 238-yard par 3, a 259-yard par 4, a treacherous hole called the "Train Wreck" and a five-hole stretch around a cavernous dry lake dubbed "Crater Junction" all help make the semi-private Zellwood Station Golf Club unique. Featuring hilly terrain not often seen at Florida golf courses, the George Maddox design, which opened in 1974, is a challenge. Located about 30 minutes from Orlando, Zellwood Station G.C. is known to be in good shape, especially the greens.

Zellwood Station Golf
I have been to Zellwood at least 100 times over the years! It is always in generally good shape because it is in a 55 and older community and everybody likes to golf there. Some of the greens are treacherous depending on pin placement and please remember to avoid the trench!
The carts are relatively new and the Whistlestop Restaurant has very good drink specials and food options when it is open!
On occasion, as with most golf courses, the pace of play is a little slower than you would like, but generally is moving fairly quickly enjoy!
Good course
Really enjoy playing this course, but why let out groups of 5? It held up everyone behind, plus it doesn’t help when at least 2 of the four ball in front is hitting two balls off the tee. Not good golf etiquette.
Love the course
It was just too crowded which only further says its a good course. I like the hills for Florida and the greens were in great shape.
Zellwood is Fun Challenging Course
First off, the golf clubhouse is kinda tough to find, so pay attention to signage (I guess since I've been there I knew my way around & ended up making wrong turns in the Zellwood community).. The course is in nice shape, and the layout is challenging, especially with a few "blind shots". You will get some side-hill lies, and some greens are table-top in size. Tee boxes need levelling, and some greens thin texture & spotty; for the most part, receptive to good shots (thus, needing to repair ball marks). The starter was busy with groups of residents, but he fit me in with another 2some of young guys. The pace-of-play was good, around the 4hr mark, but we didn't spend much time looking for golf balls. I don't hit it far enough to lose, but you really have to spray shots to cost you balls. The layout has nice elevation changes, so bring your RangeFinder, and play extra club into the uphill holes like #5. Thanx to GN for the Hot Deals discount ......I will be back to redeem myself on hole #9 (only DbleBogie).
Fairways and greens
Zellwood is a good course with many elevation changes. It's built around a well kept manufactured housing community. The undulating greens and fairways have been overseeded and are shaved down nice. The rest of the course is, and always has been, pretty rough, bumpy and turf sparse. Tough (for me) to get up and down.
If you plan on lunch, call ahead. I think the restaurant is only partially open. Snacks, merchandise, range balls, and beers are very reasonable. They don't gouge you here.
Definitely worth a look
I’ve been known in the past to give too high a review for no reason so take this all with a grain of salt: course is a gem!
Pace of play wasn’t really a factor as there was no one in front of us for a good ways, but caught up to a guy giving an unofficial lesson to another chap and they moved slow for a couple holes, all in all everything kept moving.
Conditions for everything other than the greens, fairways and tee boxes was just okay but they really kept the place looking nice in all the areas that matter. Fairways were very tight though and you could tell they probably used to be bigger and maybe it was too much to maintain. Greens were pristine, though small and very challenging in a great way.
Nothing to say about the staff, straightforward, helpful and attentive.
Value was great. Paid 48 dollars at prime time on a weekend in high season.
Course layout was brilliant and a lot of fun. A few crazy dog legs and a lot of blind shots but all very reasonable and purposeful. Hole 9 and 16 were particularly cheeky and the funnest holes. Loved the greens; again very tight and not the easiest but man will they make you love or hate putting.
Of course amenities weren’t much. Great practice green though. Range was okay.
All in all it’s just a lot of fun. Wish I could go back tomorrow.
A Great Value
The course design is great. Through Golf Now I got a great deal at 11:40 when the temperature was in the mid 60s. Greens were true speed but tricky on several holes. We had a good time. Give it a “go” !
Ok I see you Zellwood Station
Ok decent course and fun layout, wouldn’t take much more to have some nice landscaping, it’s in pretty decent shape! I had a pretty decent round and will definitely be back. Try it you will like it.
Great deal
Course has some fun elevation challenge to it, usually can find a good price and pace of play is typically moving anywhere from 3 to 4.5. greens were in good condition. There are few spots under trees that are just dirt, but you know free place on grass.
Regular player
Great staff and they take care of the course. The 5the hole had dry grass, but stilll amazing. I visit twice weekly.
Greens are in excellent shape
Course is in great shape. Greens are tricky but fun. Love all the elevation changes from fairway to green.
