Wyncote Golf Club
About
Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford is one of the most challenging courses in the area. The heathlands layout feels like a links course with wind being an important factor and thick fescue coming into play. The golf course starts with an especially tough front nine but there are more scoring opportunities on the back. Mounded bunkers and moguls define the movement of the fairways and though there aren't many trees, if you don't keep your shots straight you might find yourself out-of-bounds or lost in the high, wiry grass. Sidehill lies await you as well as a few blind shots. Wyncote's greens have little undulation but the lightning fast putting surfaces are a challenge for players of all skill levels. With a few "grip it and rip it" holes mixed in, Wyncote Golf Club is a tough but fair test.

superb
The course was in fantastic condition. The layout is very good. I definitely will play again.
Sandtrap rakes
I always enjoy playing Wyncote - it is a tremendous challenge and test of a player's skill. Upon this visit I was disappointed to see the sand-trap rakes attached to each cart. Only problem is people are not carrying the rake with them when their ball is in the trap. So while I found the sand in the traps an improvement over prior year visits, the sandraps themselves were unraked and discheveled.
One of my local favorites
A great choice for upscale public course golf in SE PA. Links style layout where the wind comes into play. The beautiful and quiet countryside is as much a draw for me as the great layout .
Can't beat it.
They ran a special the entire day for $25. There is not another course around for 30 miles that's done that, that I know of. We played in the afternoon 4:00 the weather and course were fantastic. Greens were fairly fast and true. I live in Pa. and play courses in Pa., Md., and De. This is one of the best around. If you want to play a nice course try this one, you won't be dissapointed, just practice up on your sidehill lies.
Price value
Not a tricked up hole on the course. Greens were excellent. I would highly recommend this course. We drive over an hour to play it. Great mid-point between Philly and Charm City for friends to get together on an outstanding track. Rivals Bulle Rock for 1/3 the price.
Very entertaining course.
Liked everything about this course BUT the whole rake thing. No body seemed to mention this. You see, instead of having rakes at the bunkers, they have them in the carts. What ends up happening is you either forget to take it with you or forget it in the bunker when you're done (guilty). The end result is that most the time the bunkers don't seemed to be raked from there previous inhabitant. Hey, I was only in twice. It's not like I was living there. No wind on our day.
Go Play it!
Wyncote is in great condition right now. The greens are rolling nice and the fescue is high and penal (don't bother looking). The first cut of rough is not too high; just right really. Tee it forward if its windy - as it usually is at Wyncote.
I also have to note that I lost my rangefinder on the course. The staff was very helpful about that and a patron turned it in. I would have liked to thank that patron in person.
Worth the trip
This was my second time in two years. It is a great layout. Very few people out on a 90 degree plus day. Tee boxes are a little out of shape. Fairways were superb. Greens are slow - not complaining. Great rates for the afternoon golfer. Check it out.
Beautiful course... tough to play
I think the majority of weekend golfers are not scratch golfers. We have our good days and bad days with good shots from hole to hole. Wyncote is a pretty links course. The conditions were excellent. Greens soft and true. Fairways were spongy and lush... a dream to hit from. At least the few times I hit the fairway. The clubhouse pro said as we walked out the door... "hit em straight and short". He was right and that is where my review turns sour. The fairways are narrow. The rough is narrow. There are very few trees. But there is "natural" grass just feet from the edge of the fairway on every hole. And if your ball goes in the "natural" grass... it might as well have gone in the water. Impossible to find. This same idea of "natural" grass applies to behind virtually all greens as well. Bottom line... if you're not a pinpoint striker of the ball... you're going to be frustrated after a few holes. I love the game. I can par one hole and triple bogey the next. I'm not out to win tournaments. I just want to spend a few hours in the sun and hit a few shots that keep me coming back. This isn't the place to come. It is a stern and what I feel to be unreasonably punitive place to play. Truly a course where the average sprayer of the golf ball can lose a ball - in the grass - every time they swing the club. I'm spending money to have fun... not trying to win money... so please, give me a little breathing room. If you're a scratch golfer, this is a great links course, one that is well worth the money, especially if you get a twilight rate. But if you're the average hacker like me... be careful... you might get frustrated pretty quickly if you're having an even partially off day.
simply the best
heard a lot about this course it was recommended and it did not disappoint would love to play it again.
Scottish Golf in PA
I play here a few times a season. It's billed as "Scottish Golf" and while that is a bit of a stretch, there is a wind-swept nature about the place, built on PA farmland. The course was was in excellent shape and not very crowded on a Tuesday. Several tees to pick from although the Senior/Forward tees are not rated for men. A few tricky holes, but mostly well-designed solid golf holes. Competitive rates. A little remote, but worth the ride!
Scenic course
First time playing there. We had an early tee time absolutely beautiful golf course in great condition. A lot of sidehill lies not used to that playing the flat New Jersey courses. A few blind shots not knowing where we were going. Overall a great day we will be back
Jimmy V says nice!
This is the first time I played this course and I found it to be very challenging but fun. Course was in great shape. We were a twosome that got paired with the groundskeeper who gave us a lot of inside information on the course.
First time on a Sunday afternoon.
I knew it was gonna be a long day when I looked down on the first hole and saw 3 foursomes on the hole. 1 on the box, 1 on the approach and 1 on the green. No one listened to the starters advice on not trying to get home in two on this hole as most second shots are 240+ to reach. Therefore backing up tee times and making for a very long day. Went off at 1:20 and at 5:00 just reached 14. Played 14 and left. Other than that, course is always in good to great shape and a pleasure to play. If only I didn't have to stretch out before each tee box while waiting.
great course - terrible service
After our round I was very much looking forward to returning. However, after sitting in the lounge for almost 15 minutes with nobody acknowledging that we were even there, I was quite more than just a little annoyed. After waiting, we got up to leave and one of the staff said "bye fellas. have a nice evening." To which I replied "are you kidding!" Then we walked out. I may never go back. That was insulting. I've never been ignored at any place like this before, and certainly not by an establishment that "should" be of such high caliber.
show play in front of our 4 some
needed to be marshalled better we were at the 16th hole and we stop playing because it was already 5and a half hour play at that point with people backed up on 17 and 18 so we left and came in and eat dinner which was not so good.
Excellent Course
Wyncote is in excellent condition right now. The greens were perfect. This is a great course and always worth the drive
Worth twice what I paid!
I absolutely loved this course! The layout was great, the conditions were wonderful and everyone was very nice. I played another course in the same area the previous day that was twice what Wyncote cost and it wasn't in anywhere near as good of condition. I wish I had played here twice.
Excellent Public Golf Course
Easily one of the best public golf courses in PA - Course was in great shape as always.
Easy track with the high grasses not yet fully grown
Nice track easy without the high grass to protect it . Good length and nice greens .
