Wyncote Golf Club
About
Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford is one of the most challenging courses in the area. The heathlands layout feels like a links course with wind being an important factor and thick fescue coming into play. The golf course starts with an especially tough front nine but there are more scoring opportunities on the back. Mounded bunkers and moguls define the movement of the fairways and though there aren't many trees, if you don't keep your shots straight you might find yourself out-of-bounds or lost in the high, wiry grass. Sidehill lies await you as well as a few blind shots. Wyncote's greens have little undulation but the lightning fast putting surfaces are a challenge for players of all skill levels. With a few "grip it and rip it" holes mixed in, Wyncote Golf Club is a tough but fair test.

Greens in great shape. Very peaceful area of Chester county
Note that we played at 3pm as a twosome with no one in front of us to slow us down
Best course on the Philadelphia Golf Now menu
This is the best course on the Philadelphia list of courses for Golf Now. Challenging but fair, its a beast from the tips if the wind is blowing hard (and it always seems to be blowing a little harder on the course than it is when I leave my house...). Course is very well maintained and a great value for the money.
Fun thinking course.
We have had a ton of rain here this summer. Consequently many of the bunkers were in terrible condition. That was the only mediocre aspect of the course. I will definitely play there again.
Great Inland Links Course
Staff were great! Very gracious & courteous. Course was in excellent condition (a few tee markers could have been relocated because we played late in the day & a few holes tees had a lot of divots and showed a days worth of play already. Greens were fantastic. Held well and very smooth. Fairways were superb.
Wyncote's Worthwhile
Although touted as a links course, Wyncote seems more like a parkland course - without the trees. Pretty, rolling farmland surrounds it. Some water hazards. Although no woods or trees, don’t stray into the high, thick grass that borders many fairways; if your ball even just trickles in, chances are very high it’s a goner. Course maintenance good. Greens have some tilt here and there, but no real rolls; fairly straight forward. The blue tees I played were rated at 72.3/135, which I thought might be a little overstated. A good, fun, tough course worth the drive.
Keep it in play!
Scottish links style. High fescue if your past the rough! The greens are the best I've played this year! Consistant speed, and a very true run! Not exceptionally hard if you hit the ball semi straight!!
Good golf
Nice course overall. Greens could be a little faster and a little harder. The only problem i had is the 18th green is tiny. It just doesnt fit in and it feels werid to end a nice round of golf on a very small green and 18 is a par 5.
terrific value
Played Wyncote yday (7/15/13) and hadn't played there for probably 5 years...we were welcomed upon arrival and the staff behind the counter was very friendly...course was in OUTSTANDING condition...bent grass fairways were perfect and greens rolled true.....greens weren't lightning fast but kept at a speed that was fair....in other words you didn't hv to worry about your speed putting a level 10 foot putt.....pace of play was fast and never had to wait on the guys ahead and we keep good pace ourselves....wish there had been a cart girl bc it was hot but overall playing this course is a great value.
three putting...good reasons
great greens with many pin placements, can be very challenging if you end up on wrong side with approach
overall course is conditioned proper, fairly wide fairways with rough you'll be able to hit out of, rolling hills but can still find some close to flat lies
excellent links course
everything about this course is first rate, good deal with golf now pricing.links course with great views, must keep the ball in the short grass or you will pay .
Perfect conditions...
one of my favorites....play moved well considering cart path only due to heavy rains 2 days before...
Tough links layout.
The fescue has been allowed to grow in and a stray ball is an ex-ball.
You have to keep the ball in play !
I paid 35 $ . I like the course but not enough to pay full rate .
Still one of the area's best fee-for-play golf courses!
Simple review. Here goes:
Very well maintained. Private club-like. Greens are a little slow though.
Many sets of tees, so you can play it very tough, fairly easy, or everything in between.
Great staff! Kathy is wonderful. Everyone goes out of their way to be friendly.
Great value. If you can play this course for under $70. jump on it. It is a steal.
Good Conditions
The rough is thick all throughout the course, greens are in good shape. Overall condition is very good and an optimal time to play this course.
We'll be back
First time - very nice course, well maintained, excellent pace for 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Good value at the $50 Internet rate.
Fun
I echo many reviews. This is a challenging course, but not extremely. With no trees it appears to be wide open but the long-grass rough is punishing. I found myself paying more attention to shooting straight than at home with tree-lined fairways where I can at least Find my ball. Each hole has individual character. Even the one straight-away hole has a big slope left to right. The gentleman, Tom, I was paired with should be hired as a salesman or tour guide. He made the round fun.
fast greens-thick rough-always windy-challenging course
Wyncote is one of few links courses close to home in southern chester county. If you have never been it's a must play for several reasons including layout , conditions and overall experience. Can't think of a sub-standard hole on the entire course. I'd highly recommend and with a golfnow deal it's value added. Also great food and drink at the pub there....and not just bar food...we're talking cuisine with a bonafide chef. Great golf...food...beverages...what else do you need ?
fairways are better than most private courses in the area
Course is in great condition. The PGA tour wishes they had played here instead this past weekend.
