English Turn Golf & Country Club
About
English Turn Golf & Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus design that was crafted in 1988 to host the New Orleans PGA Tour event. Nicklaus designed the course to be enjoyed equally by spectators and golfers, incorporating gallery berms and spectator mounds throughout. This challenging design is known for its undulating greens that will test even the most seasoned players. Each hole has a unique design that combines strategically placed bunkers, including large waste bunkers, and sloping grass swales. There is also carefully sculpted mounding along the edges of the fairways. On top of that, water comes into play on nearly every hole. English Turn's signature hole, the 15th, is a tricky par 5 with an island green but it's the final hole, a par 4 with water all along the left side, that is rumored to be the golf course's toughest.

Really enjoyable
Really enjoyed this course. Staff was really friendly. For this time of year course was in really good condition. I can only 8imagine what it must be like in late spring. Just might have to come back from California to find out.
Well maintained and great layout
English turn is a gem on the West Bank of New Orleans. You can’t beat the GolfNow deals offered on this top rated course.
This course is nice
Layout is very good but every holes condition is
No good
And rate is too much.
Among NOLA's best facilities
On the West Bank, English Turn is a former PGA Tour host that remains one of the best publicly accessible courses in NOLA along with Bayou Oaks and TPC. The first thing that sticks out is the clubhouse. It is massive! Be sure to poke around a little bit and go into the locker room, which could hold a full-field event and then some.
The way the Jack Nicklaus-designed course is routed is really neat: it's entirely encircled by a lagoon, so that even though it's in the middle of a residential community, all the homes (really, really nice homes) are well off the playing corridors.
The finish kicks off with a bang on the island-green par-5 15th. I went for it in two and failed miserably.
1980s Nicklaus designs aren't my favorite era of the architect, but having said that, I still really enjoyed the round at English Turn. It's not terribly difficult, there are some birdie chances, and it's kept in great shape. It's also usually a little less to play than TPC. So all in all it's a solid value to play an upper-echelon course in a destination that doesn't have very many to choose from. I had lunch in the clubhouse afterwards, which as you'd expect in NOLA, has some fine seafood.
While in New Orleans!!
If you want to play while in New Orleans, English Turn is a nice track. Staff is great, nice practice area, and the pace of play was great. what more do you want?!
Great after thanksgiving play
Played by myself, great weather and friendly staff. The practice facilities are a plus.
The course is in gray shape.
Serious tournament course
First class facilry and staff. Amazing course. Maintained to perfection.
Excella Course
This is an excellent course. The layout, staff, clubhouse grill, are all top notch
We were involved in a winter special, so the course we crowded, with so slower than normal play.
Otherwise a great time for all
Overall great experience
From the time I got there and met Ben the young guy in the bad drop to Mike in the clubhouse to the lead maintenance guy out there fixing the drainage with a drone all exceptionally friendly wonderful staff and then the course just added to it perfect conditions great pace-of-play can't wait to come back and play this beautiful course with beautiful houses and a beautiful surrounding fabulous
Would play there anytime
The best coruse I have played in quite sometime. The fairway to the greens were great, even with all the rain southeast Louisiana has been getting. I would go back and play anytime.
Put your game face on!
This is a serious course and quite a beautiful long course as well. It was hot but that can't be helped during summer. Fairways were well developed and greens were nicely manicured. Plenty of flora and fauna to enjoy while your partner tees up. When I get some more swings under my belt I'm definitely giving this course another go round! Happy putting!
Customer service
I booked a tee time for my husband at 4:18. We had to wait fifteen minutes before someone checked us in. The employee inside of the clubhouse was unable to check us in. The course was great. When we were done with hole number nine it started to rain. When we made it to the club house an employee told us that the clubhouse was closed and we had to contact golf now to get a rain check. We paid the green fee at the golf course so my husband was unsure as to why he was told this. It was around 5:30pm and we were told we had until 7:30pm to finish.
Top Notch
Really Nice Course
Given August heat in La, was in great condition
Mike in Pro Shop was very accomidating
Old Hidden Gem!!!
For a course built in 1988, it is one of the top three courses in the New Orleans metro area IMO. Great condition and worth the price.
Excellent customer service
From the bag drop, the pro shop, to the starter, out on the course and finally back to the clubhouse could not have been treated better felt like a member. Oh and yes the course was in outstanding shape. a must play
Gorgeous and challenging course
This course is extremely well kept. The starter was informative and friendly. The driving area and chipping greens were great. I will say, this course can be challenging, and somehow, I missed the 17th hole altogether while following the cart path, so maybe some additional signage... or I'm just an idiot, lol. I would definitely recommend this course.
Great Time
Awesome course, great value. Played as a single and everyone let me play through as needed. Buzzed through in roughly 3 hours.
