English Turn Golf & Country Club

Loved the golf course. Generous fairways but very small greens. And speaking of the greens, some of the best bermuda greens I have putted on.

the greens were soft and fast, the fairways were excellent. Very nice cousre.

All golf courses should be held to the standards of English Turn. The day I played the course was "Cartpath only" due to the torrential downpour of 1.75 inches of rain previous night. Amazingly the coarse drained very well and was very playable .Risk and reward for all skill levels can be found at English Turn. I rate English Turn aa 9.5 out of 10.

Tee to green this course is in exceptional condition. The greens were fast but rolling true. My friend and I finished the course playing a reasonable pace in just under three hours. Got a hot rate on golfnow, and will definitely play this course again if that rate becomes available.

The course was in perfect shape & the greens were running about 10. Great day of golf and very few golfers in the early morning. Played under 4 hours.

I play at many locations, around Texas, Mississippi, an Louisiana. From Tee To Green it is flawless. The roughs, greens are lush. The Greens are smooth and fast, not to fast just perfect. I hope the new owner keeps adding landscaping features like Rock and stone with flowers. You can tell they have spented a lot of money fixing everything, its beautiful and fun to play, with that just right amount of difficulty. I ate a hamburger and fries and it was delicious and big. I recommend eating this meal at the end of your round. I was so stuffed I could not swing. You will enjoy the whole experience.

Very well kept, speedy greens. Although water in play on all 18 holes, playable for all handicaps!

This is one of the top courses in New Orleans. The greens were in excellent conditions. I don't know if I would pay the full price, but for the 60 dollar price I got it was a bargain.

This was the most benign Nicklaus course I've played. Fairways are large and forgiving. Only defense is some very small greens. I would play it again, but I wouldn't want it as a steady diet.

Great course for a hot deal int he afternoon. We pretty much had the course to ourselves, which we were told was rare. We enjoyed the brisk pace of play and the good conditions of the course. Great clubhouse.

I played the TPC course twice during the week and was impressed with the conditions there. But English Turn is every bit as impressive in its own right. More open, windier, but conditions were just as good. The practice area is nicer than the TPC, the starter was entertaining, the landing area of drives plenty fair. The greens are small, but it just adds an appropriate challenge to a course that is suppose to keep one's attention. If it wasn't for the hot deals, I couldn't justify the kind of money they want. But IF you can get this course for $60 or less, it's a must play.

The greens were transitioning but still rolled well even though a little bumpy. This course is always fun to play, good layout and one always has to think on approach and chip shots with some difficult lies around the greens. The food and drink were excellent at the 19th hole. Played this course a few times in the past. Today I was paired with two out of towners who were playing it for the first time. Course in great shape, greens pretty firm and quick and fairways were perfect. Only drawback was lots of fresh sand in the bunkers so I got a few buried lies (probably getting them ready for the Zurich Classic Qualifier in a few weeks). Staff friendly as usual and pace of play was very good. You need to place tee shots in the right place for best chance to score. Had a good score despite pretty windy conditions on the back side. THe other two in the group were impressed with the conditions and layout.

Got a nice GolfNow deal but it didn't stop the staff from treating me great, as if I were a member. Nice practice facility with lot's of balls to hit and separate driving, chipping, and putting areas. The course was challenging because of the water, deep bunkers and quick greens but not unfair. The staff were all very nice and the folks in the restaurant delivered a very good Shrimp Po'boy. Allin all, great day and highly recommended.

Played this course with my girlfriend. The course is pretty wide open but there are bunkers EVERYWHERE. Plenty of strategic fairway bunkers and most greens are surrounded by them so there are not many run up approaches. 5 sets of tees so you can bite off as much or little as you want. Very playable and the staff is awesome. Range balls included in the price which was nice. One par 5 island green hole which is always fun. Did not see any alligators out there but would have loved to. For the price would definitely go back.

Took the advise of the reviewers & played this course on our recent visit. We're from Florida so the course was different than most here & challenging as heck. Course in great shape even though we played after a Junior Tournament in the morning. Appreciate course keeping normal conditions despite some heavy rain the previous days. Playing later in day we wouldn't have finished if it was cart path only. Wanted a challenge @ a great course and got it! Small greens made precision a must & although I was off my game I still had a great time. Will keep this course in mind in future visits to the Big Easy.

Great course and practice area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Slick greens and challenging layout while being very fair.
