About
English Turn Golf & Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus design that was crafted in 1988 to host the New Orleans PGA Tour event. Nicklaus designed the course to be enjoyed equally by spectators and golfers, incorporating gallery berms and spectator mounds throughout. This challenging design is known for its undulating greens that will test even the most seasoned players. Each hole has a unique design that combines strategically placed bunkers, including large waste bunkers, and sloping grass swales. There is also carefully sculpted mounding along the edges of the fairways. On top of that, water comes into play on nearly every hole. English Turn's signature hole, the 15th, is a tricky par 5 with an island green but it's the final hole, a par 4 with water all along the left side, that is rumored to be the golf course's toughest.

Nice course but to me, not worth $130 green fee
I got lucky with a hot deal green fee for $65 but normal green fees as high as $130-160. I don’t think it’s worth that much. A few of the greens had dead spots and were sandy. The bunkers didn’t really have a lot of sand in them. Shallow sand with some small rocks in them. Good layout overall. Nice views with the homes.
Great Staff
Everyone was extremely accommodating, started on the 10th hole because the front got slowed up by a large group. Appreciated the coordination and communication around the change. Form the pro shop to the halfway house, every team member was willing to help and made it easier for us.
The only drawback was some of the greens were not in great shape.
Great course
Love this course. Tons of water. James was very helpful.
Freshly punched greens that were not told to golfers until starter mentions it as you step on the first tee box. I had a hot deal tee time so wasn’t too upset, but I’d be frustrated if I paid full price.
Greens are very very small (punched the morning I was there), rough isn’t well kept, but other than those characteristics- the tee boxes and the fairways are in good shape.
Pretty clubhouse and good food
Course layout was great, lost plenty of golf balls, saw a couple gators, fairways were nice, couple greens need some love, but the majority were excellent. James the starter was very nice and informative. The pro shop staff and bar staff were great as well, it was definitely worth the hot deal $80 price, but I probably wouldn’t want to pay $150 unless it was in perfect shape. I don’t regret playing here over TPC at all, I enjoyed the day very much!

Greens were horrible and prices are way to high for the course conditions.
First time in 25 years
James the starter was very informative and friendly. Course received a lot of rain prior to me plating. The rough was thick Bermuda grass. The fairways were good but the greens were in rough shape and slow. Would love to come back if the greens were in better shape.

Despite recent weather , good to be out there
One of the only courses open bc of the continuous rain, and English Turn was in the best condition it could be considering about 8-10 inches in the last week. Got thru 11 before rain came down again, but overall a really nice course and clubhouse and very friendly staff.
Especially friendly and helpful was the starter , James.
