Golfer Reviews
Will never play it again
As you would expect on a sunny, 82 degree Friday afternoon in late October, the course got busy. The front was really backed up. So I skipped 5,6,7,8, and 9 and went to the back 9 where things weren’t as congested. After 18, I went back to #1 to make up the skipped holes. That’s when Matthew showed up. Matthew interrogated me on the tee box about why I was back on #1. When I told him I was making up skipped holes, he seemed angry. Very rude and condescending. Long story short, I ended up going all the way to #5 and finished my round. Dan the outside guy is a good dude. Totally helpful and reasonable. But Matthew not so much. I couldn’t believe how he came at me. I will NEVER go back. I encourage others to spend your money elsewhere.
stay in the fairway!
off the fairway by 12th" and start searching Bermuda swallows ball!
Don't get off the fairway
Bermuda rough too high so would loose ball if inches off the fairway. course is fairly easy with no forced carries, so should play fast, however was very slow for us trying to look for lost balls. Cut paths were VERY bad had to go very slowly to not get knocked off the cart
Below average for Carolina golf
Saw Davis Love course and was disappointed overall. Rough was really long, hard to find balls when it’s that high. The putting greens are completely missing grass in portions. General landscaping around clubhouse and tee boxes are shabby. Cart paths are extremely bumpy, with tree roots heaving. Bar was not open for any beverages. I have played a lot of Carolina golf from Pinehurst for years and other Hilton Head Plantation courses and this was ranked with the lowest I’ve played in the Carolinas. On the other hand I did like the actual layout, and the picturesque back drops of some of the greens with towering pines behind. One thing to note, tell the guy driving the gator around to each hole and running the irrigation heads, that he is driving way too close to the greens and leaving muddy tracks right along the fringe every time. I know you work there and the job gets monotonous, but please respect the distance buffer near the greens. I think this course has potential, but catch it now before it gets worse.
Grass
The grass was way too tall. The rough area should be cut down atleast another inch or two. If you went in the rough the ball(if you could find it) was basically 4” deep In thick/tall grass. Other than that it was good
Rough is deep
This course is fine for the money but the rough is deep and greens are not great.
Why the drastic price increase
So I’ve played this course for years, I KNOW this courses conditions over the last 10 years has ways been sub par at best so I’m curious why suddenly I hop on golf now and the price to play has doubled! Cmon your a muni course charging $100 a round yet you’ve done nothing to negate the drastic price bump. Please tell me it’s not a glitch on the app because this doesn’t make sense. I’ll go to islands west or rose hill across the street for better conditions at $60. Ya;l have to be competitive with pricing.
Liked the course layout…some greens were a bit rough and slow …sand in traps was course and rocky in some.
Overall a good experience for cost.
Poor shape
The course was not good. The rough hadn’t been mowed in 3 weeks. Really slowed play down. Some of the greens were very rough with no grass in spots. Looks like their is no money investment back into the course.
