Slow play - no ranger
The course itself is making a nice transition to summer weather. The staff were great. The pace of play was terrible (5 hours). I was behind a twosome who could not keep up with the foursome in front of them. It is hard to watch "novice" players play from the wrong set of tees.
Tip: If you're not using an iron from a par three tee box, you're hitting from the incorrect tees!
Nice Course
The course itself was really nice, but there were several spots of just dirt and brush that were not very appealing. Some holes were not marked well. However the greens were in great shape and the price is great. I would play here again. We were visiting from Denver.
fairly fair
slow play front and back due to different reasons front 9 remedied by starter
Silverbell Review....First Time Played
Really liked the open-ness of the course, the staff was great...very welcoming and friendly, the only issue we had was the pace of play on the front nine which took over 3 hrs. The back nine improved, but that wax because 2 two-somes quit at the turn due to the pace. I will try this course again though because the staff and cart gal were so nice!!
looks good
I was surprised at how nice the course was. Usually not in the best shape. I enjoyed playing there.
Silverbell
Greatly improved over this past year. Fairways were in very good condition as were the greens. Staff is excellent. New golf carts always put one in good frame of mind. The restaurant is lacking full cooking facilities, therefore their bill of fare is lacking. Not a good place to meet friends after a round of golf for lunch. Speaking of golf exclusively, a good value.
Odor brings down overall quality of course
The septic odor that pervades several holes on the course is quite unpleasant. The last few rounds we say, 'that's the last time'. But over time we forget how unpleasant it is and come back, not sure we will for awhile. Seems as the weather warms the odor gets worse.
Don't allow tournaments with normal golfers
My friend and I were looking forward to our round at Silverbell. We ended up being matched with two gentleman that were apparently in the middle of some match play tournament. As they played they became increasingly slow and less and less courteous. It really was a miserable day.
Nice Course
Silverbell is a very clean facility with an extremely friendly and helpful staff. We played in just over 3.5 hours. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in verY good shape and the rough was forgiving, the only downside were the bunkers. Seems they were more hard packed dirt than sand. Overall a nice course and I will be playing it again.
Great course for the money...
My wife and I played Silverbell and had a great round. We like to walk and don't like a golf course surrounded by houses. Silverbell is perfect. Great tee selection and plenty of length if you like long. The greens are in great shape. The staff is friendly and professional. Great practice area!
Same old Silverbell
We were hoping, with the change in management, that course conditions at Silverbell had improved over last year. While the fairways were somewhat better, everything else had not been improved. The rough areas had seemed to be worse, with a lot of bare dirt areas. Our GPS quit working after about 4 holes. Some of the bunkers had very little sand in them. With so many courses to choose from in the Tucson area, we probably will not go back to Silverbell.
Very Nice!
Well kept, friendly staff, requires some thought.
Greens are fast but readable.
Better shape than most city courses.
Can't believe they will host a Champions tour qualifier
The only reason I played this course is because others in my group wanted to give it a go. After hearing they will be hosting a champions tour qualifier here in March, I thought it had to be in good shape. Boy was I wrong!! I will say that the greens were in good condition. Other than that this course was not in very good condition. Traps are terrible. The rough is just that. Very thin almost dirt. The city of Tucson let this course go and now OB has there hands full if they want to return it to what it once was.
GREAT FOR THE MONEY
As a full time tour pro, played here before our champions pre q event.
A great course layout with great conditions and FAST GREENS
that roll out and are smooth.
Great views of the city and mountains.
One of the best $$$ values in the arizona
TRY IT
Ugly
Silverbell needs a facelift. A far cry from desert golf, this course more closely resembled a gravel pit.
Why play here?
I realize the new management team for the Tucson Muni courses has a hard row to hoe.
But i ask myself after trying Silverbell today why should I play here again? The greens are bumpy and the grass is more weeds than grass, the sand traps are gravel pits and often very wet, the pace of play is awful, and the fairways ned water.
For the same price I will play at Crooked Tree, Quarry Pines or the Ranch and play in much better conditions.
This is a minority opinion for the course was very busy today.
Why it was so busy is beyond me.
Silverbell
Fairways and greens were excellent traps were terrible with no sand hard clay. Deal at the clubhouse was better then deal on golf now!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had that happen twice in the last month why!!!!!?????
pet pieve
why does all these high handicap players play from tee boxes to far back for them.played in back of 4 guys who i could out drive 40 yrds playing from a tee farther back than me.5hr round unacceptable .screws the day up for everyone.played with my wife and a another couple and we had to wait 5min. on every hole.
Need Sand
The Fairways and Greens are in excellent shape and provide a great place to play. Since OBSports has taken over the course there has been a huge improvment. However, the one area that needs to be addressed is the bunkers. No sand but lots of mud. Since we have not had rain in over a week I cannot understand why there is mud in the bunkers.
