This course is a good into to AZ golf
This is my first experience with AZ golf and grass on the greens took me 9 holes to adjust - rather slow. Layout was good and the fairways in great condition. The location of the next tee box and or holes is not always obvious so be sure to check the course map.
Overall a good course at at reasonable price. I will play it again.
Carts need work, bald tires, no brakes
A typical municipal golf course. The course layout is fun, great course for juniors, wide open fairways. Conditions were less than average. Looks like they have let things go a bit, carts were in tough shape, I usually don't notice but in this case it stood out. Bunkers were in horrible shape, pretty much mud, no sand and wet. When we hit in a bunker we pretty much had to drop outside, hate doing this but they were pretty bad. A little TLC and this could be an outstanding course. My son and I did have a great time even with the conditions.
Good Greens
Course is in very good shape overall. Greens are cut short. Fast and true for a muni
A Decent challenge
Silver bells golf course is a very walkable course. There are quite a few challenging holes even though the fairways are fairly wide-open. The greens are very quick and rolled true but not with undue undulations.
At least two the par threes are quite long and if the winds blowing can be challenging to reach. All in all I enjoyed playing the course and look forward to playing it again. I would recommend it to anybody who likes a decent challenge to their game.
Never again!
Have been playing golf in Tucson for past twenty five years during annual visit for Gem Show and this is the worst course I have ever played. Carts are decrepit, our brakes did not work, rented clubs which were off brand, old and not a full set. Driver was unplayable! Setting is between trailer parks and garbage dumps with dirty, trash strewn scrub around every fairway. Traps were either rock hard or mud pools and greens were less than adequate.
What made the day even worse was the fact that we were behind a school girl tournament. Girls were great and well behaved but after three hours we had only played 11 holes and we decided that a visit to the dentist would be preferable and we threw in the towel. Not worth the money, even though cheap, save your money and go for a walk in the foothills instead!!
greens are good
The fairways and greens are good. The holes are poorly marked. Had troubel determining correct green on 7 and how to find the 8 T box.
Lots of ducks and everything they provide.
good value on a fair yet trying course
The course is set up to accommodate wide tee shots on quite a few of the holes except for the water holes where your shots must be precise. The greens are excellent. The only negative comment is the abundance of migratory water fowl on the course that make a huge mess on and around the greens
Excellent value and staff very helpful.
Silverbell is a great course for game improvement. Some hazards exist, but not too penalizing. Staff is very helpful and professional.
A great muni course
Wide open, easy scoring course with medium to large greens. A pleasure to walk, this course has almost no hills. The greens are in OK shape, a bit bumpier than most. Overall a really fun muni.
you get what you pat for
2-3 holes had so much bird doo on the greens could not even attempt to putt. cart falling apart. course not well maintained. i guess this is what you get for a city course.
This course is a nice challenge.
The course was in pretty good shape. It is fairly long but rewards good shots. There was lots of coot dropings on many of the greens. That is the only bad thing I have to say about this course. And it was bad.
course in good shape
lots of ducks, making a mess on greens, other than that course was in great shape, greens really fast, and traps were decent, not hard pan
Mostly favorable
Okay for a municipal course. First time at the course and I'd have been lost without directions from the guys with which I played. Some cart paths are kind of beat up and if you get off the fairways, the turf needs water.
Lots of other golfers, so course is obviously popular and probably a great bargain compared to other courses in the area.
This course has a lot of ducks. That means to much duck on th greens
Pace of play too slow we did complain it did speed up thank you
A Great Muni
My wife and I have only played the course very early in the morning. If we are not the first off, the regular foursomes of elderly gentlemen always let us play through. The course itself is in quite good shape considering that it is a very busy muni: the fairways are quite lush, we only played in winter; the greens play quick and true; the tees are spaced appropriately for my wife and me to compete fairly. All munis in Tucson allow walking, which is why we played them, and found Silverbell to be our favourite. Our only complaint is that most of the bunkers at Silverbell, and the other munis in Tucson, frequently have only a patina of sand which makes playing out of them extremely challenging.
Good course, but bird droppings are objectionable.
This is an average muni course, and offers some challenge to moderate skill levels. Big objection to the course is the abundance of mud hens which leave an unacceptable mess on and around the greens. Something needs to be done about this, and it is hoped the company that begins operation of the Tucson muni courses February 1, will take care of it.
FLAT
THIS IS A GOOD TRACK FOR MY WIFE & I TO PLAY AS IT IS FLAT . THE GREENS ARE ALWAYS DECENT.
FROM THE WHITE TEES THE COURSE IS CHALLENGING FOR A 73 YR OLD WITH A 7 HCP. THE 16TH HOLE IS THE TOUGHEST IN TUCSON. 200 PLUS YDS WITH WATER TO THE LEFT & BUNKER TO RIGHT FRONT OF GREEN. DIFFICULT TO HIT THE GREEN OF THE TEE & STAY ON. WITH SOME GROOMING THIS COURSE COULD BE A GREAT MUNI . PRACTICE FACILITY IS A GOOD ONE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF TUCSON.
