Dos Osos Golf Club
About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Great layout but…
not so good conditions.
Bunkers - no sand in 80% of them. Some had weeds growing in also.
Tee boxes - played from blues; very narrow sight lines out of most tee shots; almost tunnel vision-like; you won’t feel this playing from the whites; hardly any flat areas and very uneven terrain; sad that tee markers were painted rocks; I mean c’mon?!?!
Fairways - some green and some not
Greens - a lot on the back 9 need some major help; some greenery but a handful had patches of dirt
Pace - excellent but who would want to play here?
Facility - driving range is small but decent; putting green adequate; snack bar area has wide selection of drinks; they can give you some ice too. (wish they had coolers on their carts though);
This course does not match the neighborhood.
There’s potential for a great course here. They just need the funding for the renovation and upkeep.
Overall: disappointed it wasn’t better
Bad course
Very bad fairway, large dirt area for almost every hole. Bumpy and slow greens. Not worth!
Course in horrible shape
Sand bunkers are essentially mud traps. Fairways are dry and dusty.
Don’t waste your money.
No idea how this place is still open. Tee boxes was dirt. Fairways were dirt or dead grass. Greens were dead or bad sun burns. Heard from one of the cart guys that the owner passed and the wife is in charge now. Place is sad. Layout is fun but again you’re going to be hitting off dirt almost every shot. Definitely the worst course I’ve ever played. Save your money.
Eagle Crest
If there was some water in Southern California, this would be a good course. But there isn't any grass in the fairways, the tee boxes are all chewed up and the greens have crab grass growing all over them. All the water hazards are empty and the sand traps are like cement. It's really a shame that the drought has ruined the golf courses around here.
It was a great course 20 years ago
The course is in the worst condition I've ever seen. Fairways have little turf and LOTS of gopher/squirrel holes. Super bumpy when riding. Greens were patchy and tee boxes were uneven and dry. Wish it was in the condition it was in 20 years ago. Sorry I don't have anything good to say today but that was my experience. I won't be back anytime soon if ever. Just thought of one positive - you can get a lot of extra yardage with your tee shot from the extra rollout - if it doesn't go into one of the holes...
Rough
Tee boxes to fairways and the greens were in terrible condition. Would not recommend to anyone to play there. Worst course I’ve ever played.
Great layout but needs more TLC
I play this course all the time because of the price. Most courses have raised their rates a ton since the pandemic and i try to golf on a budget. Main pros; the greens are always in excellent shape and the layout of the course is great. Cons; fairways are very rough and dont get much water, lots of dirt in the middle of fairways, and 90% of bunkers are unplayable etc etc. Still worth playing since the value is there and you dont mind using the foot wedge to give yourself a better lie from time to time.
Declining
I have played this course numerous times since it’s inception. The condition of the course started declining several years ago and continues to do so. I read recent reviews and several people rated the conditions high, so we gave it a chance. On the first tee, I had a nice drive down the middle of the fairway and found my ball lying on hardpan with absolutely no grass underneath. Similarly on other holes, drove down the fairway to find my ball lying in 6”” of tall unmown patch of grass. Holes which used to have small ponds and water cascading from rock formations are now just dried up with cracked clay. Really sad.
A single day out on the GC
Went out without my wife ( knee surgery). , and had great time
