Dos Osos Golf Club
About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Eagle Crest
Course is in rough shape. Tee boxes are not maintained. Lots of dead grass spots in the fairways. Several greens have chunks missing.
Finally, a 7some was playing in front of us.
Yes, a 7some. Didn’t see an Ambassador/Marshall. We skipped a hole (10) to get a ahead of them.
We usually like this course. Hopefully, the superintendent can get it back in shape soon.
Fairways need love
The greens here are always pretty nice. The fairways need some attention. Wasn’t in the bunkers today, so nothing to comment.
Overall a great value.
Thank you for playing and sharing your review. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Eagle Crest
I’ve played this course many times. Nothing bad about it, nothing exciting either. It’s relatively cheap to play here, which is why I come back. I live in San Diego, so it’s a bit of a drive to get out to the course.
Late round
Greens good condition wide open no waiting at all but the fairways they have let go they are still average have some hard ground and near dead grass. But the greens and around the greens are in nice condition well worth the price which was 21$ for a 4:00 tee time
A day at the crest
Three of us met up with a friend who lives nearby to play a round here yesterday. We booked a deal through under par and, by the time it was all said and done, got 36 holes of golf in.
I must be honest and day I was a bit nervous as to what the conditions of the course were. There were a lot of negative reviews here and many of them in my opinion are unjustified. It's one thing to complain about not having flush fairways in a tropical climate, but to complain about dry fairways and spots of dirt in the foothills of North SD county in the middle of summer is uncalled for. There's a "mud rule" for a reason, and once you were within 50 yards of the green the conditions were great. The photo above is what a typical fairway looks like and, as a municipal golfer who 's approach shots range from respectable to complete shanks, I have no complaints.
Also, big shout out to the staff here who were absolutely awesome. 2 gallons of water, a couple Dr. Peppers, and 9 lost golf balls later, it was a great time.

36 at Eagle Crest
Made it down to play a round with a friend who lives nearby the course. Great deal with Under Par and great conditions from 50 yards and in on every hole. There were definitely parts of the fairway that have seen better days, but nothing a quick "mud rule" can't fix. For the price this place is solid and we had lots of fun. If you want to nitpick and complain about why the fairways aren't flush in the middle of the summer in North SD county then that's on you.
Also, great staff, great service, and if we ever come back down we will be back.
Most clubs in play here.
Greens in pretty good shape. White tee box’s could use some Love. Fairways are just below fair. I liked the courses and will definitely return. Course layout allows for use of all clubs in the bag. Not a walking course. Distance between the green and the next tee box is a little far for walking. All in all a good price with a cart! Pace of play good for a Sunday morning.

Terrible Fairways and Tee boxes
I guess the course isn’t terrible for the price but the fairways are garbage and a majority of the tee boxes are as well.

Bad
If you like to play golf. Try everywhere else first. And if you really want to play and you only have 30 bucks. Then try and enjoy hitting every shot in the fairway off of dried out grass or dirt!!

Good Course for the Value
Nice little course layout, some challenging holes and some moderate. Greens are in good shape, fairways & tee boxes could use some work but great value at $35

Course Condition.
The course needs water, but there is always a piece of grass to set you ball on. If possible, put mix in the canisters to fix divots on the course. The wind makes it challenging and one must think their way around the course a little more.

Worst conditions I’ve ever seen
This is the worst course I’ve ever played. If you enjoy trying to hit your irons off a “fairway” that is equivalent to a dog track/cow pasture, then this might be the place for you. The greens were fine but literally everything else was egregious. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone except my worse enemy.
I quit after 9 and tried to get a refund.. didn’t get one but that’s par for this course.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon. Happy Golfing!
Water
Needs a lot of water on the fairways. Greens need mowing. Bunkers are horrible. Other then that it’s a good course for the money. Definitely spend money on water.

Stopped Watering the Course
This was for many years my favorite San Diego course. It was in great shape and had a lot of challenges. Unfortunately they have stopped watering the entire course except for the greens and whatever spray hits the area immediately surrounding the greens within 5-10 yards. Most all of the water features have dried up and are empty. The fairways are dirt, weeds or leftover patches of crabgrass. We made a decision that if your ball was in the fairway, you could move it to a patch of something to hit off of. We also had to make a couple of calls not to penalize each other for a ball that rolled off the course. The fairways were so hard and just dirt, that balls kept going. A couple would have stopped if there was any grass on the fairway and rough, and so we pulled it out with no penalty. The sand traps are mostly dirt as well. The tee boxes are unkept and are lumpy with patches of crabgrass. At the 10th tee box, the rocks used to designate your tee off line were over 100% dirt. We had to move up 5 yards to find any grass to tee off from.
It was very disappointing to see any golf course actually open in this kind of shape, let alone one that was so beautiful at one time. For some reason, the back nine backed up and played terribly slow as well. I will say that the hot dog that I had at the turn was made perfectly, so that was good. The greens were wet and very slow. Play at your own risk. We had come here last year, and while it was nowhere close to what it had been 10 years ago, it was not nearly as bad as it is now.
Eagle Crest Needs some TLC
Front nine is an acceptable, however the back nine needs course maintenance work. The afternoon heat does not help either But I guess even a mediocre round is better than watching TV!
Thank you so much for your 3 star review. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Sad
I use to play this course a lot. Was always in great shape. Now fairways are dry and hard find grass to place especially 14 par 5. Straight dirt. Lay out is great and course always a challenge greens are decent. Staff always friendly. Just a sign of the times. Just sad see .it. Appreciate the reasonable price unlike other courses that price gouge cuz they can get rt now.
