Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Need to fix cancerous greens and cart path!

They need to fix the cancerous greens, bunkers are hard as a rock and the cart path needs plenty of work. Overall the course needs to be maintained better. The starter staff was aggressive and rude while playing a round behind us. They were bombing shots while we were on the fairway on the 2nd and 3rd hole. The only thing good about this course is that it's located in a nice gated community.

Course condition need to be improved

This is a good course to play but the condition need to be improved. One of the staff namely Rowen is exceptional friendly, courteous and helpful. He is a brilliant young man to be interacted with.

Can't believe this is still a Troon Course

I LOVE this layout! Tough tee shots. Water, bunkers, creeks, ravines and beautiful vistas. Now, all you need is to fix half the greens, level the tee boxes, plant grass on some of the fairways and it would be awesome!

The course condition was bad but given the price it was to be expected I suppose.

Lack of maintenance

Could be a fun course to play if the fairways are properly maintained. Quiet countryside setting: invest in course improvements & raise the fees.

Contrarian review: It's fun for the money

I read the reviews AFTER booking our 10:50 tee time for $20 (including cart). I was expecting burned out fairways and terrible greens.

Yes the first 9 is a little like entering the Land That Time Forgot. You drive thru tunnels designed not only for carts but for significant water flow. There were large mounds of river sand cleared off to both sides of the path. It was a little surreal.

And, yes, the areas 50 to 75 yards out from the tee box lack grass on the front nine, but you should hit it farther than that. We saw a coyote on the second hole and had to avoid some casual water throughout the first nine, but it was still playable.

The greens are not in bad shape, but they were much slower than I've been used to recently.

The back 9 avoids most of the water issues and is a lot of fun. The course is narrow throughout, though, so it could be a problem if you spay the ball off the tee.

It took us 4-1/2 hours as the course attracts some bargain-hunting beginners, but other than pace of play (mostly on the back 9), it was great. We've already decided to play it again, though it's possible that the El Nino winter may do a number on the front nine and we'll rethink the whole thing. Still, it would be interesting to see what Mother Nature does to those first nine holes.

For $20, it's a fun morning or afternoon. You can go to the Safari Park after, too.

Walked

Would be overpriced if it was free

Worst condition course I've played. Never left a review here before but felt like I had to. The bunkers are filled with water and parts of the fairway are filled with water too. The greens are in extremely poor condition as well. It had the potential to be a good course but unfortunately there is zero maintenance.

The price was right

The course does not appear to be maintained, but it was golf for cheap. Could be a nice course with a little more upkeep?

Eagle Crest

Been playing here for years. The worst conditions ever! Looks like they gave up on this course. Everything about it was the worst. The greens were sick with some fungus. They were super slow and bumpy. There were more gophers than golfers!

Not coming back!

Front 9 is really bad

The front 9 of this course is in really poor condition. The fairway is dirt and the greens are in desperate need of care. The back nine looked and played the best. They should close the front 9, fix it and let people play the back 9 twice. Course layout is really cool and I bet would be worth more if the course was maintained better.

5 under par playing best ball with the wife

Our best score, mainly due to good chipping and putting (only 12 putts for 18 holes!)

Traps are getting better

Don't go here even if you have a gun to your head.

Worst golf experience I have ever had. Course is in terrible shape. Greens have cancer growing on them. Pace of play is the worst I've ever experienced. No Marshal. No grass on the fairways. Mud everywhere else including ponds in the sand traps. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!! Worst golf experience in San Diego County. I hope someone buys this course and fixes it up into something resembling a real golf course.

Don’t do it!

I was enticed by the $50 weekend rate, but it’s not worth it.

Tee boxes are terrible. Fairways are terrible. Greens are terrible. Traps are terrible.

Terrible course

If you want to play on dirt and mud for 18 holes then this is your course. Greens are patchy and full of sand, “bunker” are just massive holes of mud, no fairways just dirt and more mud. Terrible terrible course there is no reason why this course should be charging $40 PLUS cart fee. This is a $5 course at best IF THAT. There is also no reason why this course should display 3 and a half stars on golf now. It is misleading.
