Dos Osos Golf Club

About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Bad!
The worst upkeep on a course that I have ever played.Save your money as this course is not worth $10.
Course Conditions
The course is in terrible shape. The greens and the fairways were horrible. It was an inexpensive round, and I see why. I would not play this course again, unless they make some major changes to the conditions. Really was a terrible course to play.
Rain has greened up the fairways, but traps are horrible
Recent rains have greened up the fairways.
Groundskeepers have not cleared up the sand traps in 4 months??( see pictures).
Greens in fair shape, a couple that are fungus eaten.
Course to rescue
Bumpy cart paths, diseased greens ,leaky plumbing in the fairway, uncut fairways that resemble pasture, bunkers with weeds and no maintenance...this used to be a great course but unfortunately the owners have abandoned it...I will too until something in the line of standard course maintenance is done...
Was a nice course 15 years ago
It's too bad that this course has slipped into such poor condition. The greens and the aprons around them are pretty decent. You can make an enjoyable day of it with the right attitude and not adhering to the rules of golf. There is almost no fairway grass so you take your drive that is in the fairway and put it onto the wee bit of grass that is there. The bunkers are full of weeds and tee boxes were being reseeded on 10/10/23. You have to be cautious using the stairs to the golf shop as the deck boards are spongy and dry rotted. Unfortunately, this course has gone into such disrepair that it will take a LOT of money to bring it back. The photos loaded are not just selected bad shots but representative of the course conditions.
Great course, poorly managed
Honestly the course is pretty poorly kept up. But, the reason why I liked it was that I really enjoyed the course layout. If they would level it up, it could be exceptional.
Worth the “deal” prices
If you can get out for less than $30 with a cart it’s pretty worth it. It’s a tough fun track that plays nicely from the back. The course condition is just the only thing you have to overcome. Fairways are horrible. Some tee boxes are a bit rough. I’m surprised to say that more than half of the greens were actually quite nice. You can tell they’re trying with what they got. There’s always good people when I go so it keeps me coming back. Friendly staff as always and just nice players on the course. Everyone’s real chill about it all because “it’s Eagle Crest”. Not too bad to bring someone who is just starting. Just watch the houses is all.
I did talk to a local and he mentioned that someone might be buying the course soon or something. Mentioned he wasn’t sure if it was going to be built on/over or if it’s going to be bought out and regroomed in a way. I do hope this track stays. I do hope they continue to give it better upkeep and it can one day become the Eagle Crest that everyone once loved talking about.
As mentioned in the title, it’s worth the deal prices. Anything $30 and below with a cart here is a great time. If you’re more into trying to beat your pb score each round and/or just stiff/dead serious about the game in general, I’d say don’t bother; you’d just end up leaving negative vibes and a negative review. If you’re more into the game for the fun and enjoyment of it. You might like this place, just remember to give yourself some and/or a lot of free relief because again, conditions aren’t the best currently. You’ll still have a great time nonetheless
Embarrassingly poor
Horrible maintenance. Bare spots mixed with overgrown spots on the fairways. The greens had bare spots and damage caused by poor mowing. There was no sand in the sandtraps. This was the worst course maintenance that I have ever expirienced,
Disappointed by bad course maintenance.
All fairways and a couple of greens are in terrible shape. Fairways are all dry with little or no green grass. Course looks like it was once a very nice and challenging course layout, similar to what Mt. Woodson and Steele Canyon are today. It looks like maintenance is kept to a minimum on fairways and they’re not watered. Bunkers had vegetation growing inside them and hard dirt, instead of soft sand.
Embarrassingly poor
The fairways were a mixture of bare spots and un mowed areas. The traps had no sand. The greens had bare spots and gashes caused by bad mowing. Only paid $30, but that was too much for this course. Simply the worst I have ever played.
Was expecting a lot less!
When I booked this tee time for $25 I wasn’t expecting a whole lot, especially after checking the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised to see how amazing the lay out was and some very nice views. The first 4 geeens do need some work and the fairways of course need some more greenery but for the price it was one of the most fun courses I’ve played in a while. The greens on the back nine are flawless and if this place was in tip top shape it would be a $150 round easily✊🏼
Eagle Crest Golf Course condition
Course layout: challenging & beautiful
Course condition: Given that for relatively low green fees, course owners need to keep low expenses as much as possible, but at the minimum & cheapest maintenance costs are to mow down all high wild grasses & weeds on fairways, drying out & putting fresh sands in bunkers, then I could give 3.5 stars given reasonable green fees!
Green fees: so so for current course conditions
Staff: friendly & courteous
Driving range: need new hitting mats or rolling artificial turfs across with new range balls (charging $2-$3 more per 50 balls or so).
Thanks,
Cong
Bad fairways
Mow the entire fairway, high spots of grass everywhere.
