Dos Osos Golf Club
About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Tricky but nice
Fairways need some work but it is winter so that needs to be considered. I found the front nine tough but I'm a high handicapper so it might have been me! Back nine has more water but not in the way if you hit the ball straight. The greens are terrific, nice pace, hold the ball well. The greens are a 5 but the fairways and sand bring the overall score down. The sand is inconsistent. One trap was hard as concrete, the next I sank up to my ankles, the last one was in between. I usually don't care what the sand is but I do like consistency in feel. Overall the course is pretty, holes are all different and it was fun to play. We played on a cool, bit wet weekday so pace of play was totally up to us. I recommend giving it a try especially for the money.
Average Dog Track
For $15.00 it was worth it the course is in fair conditional best. nice friendly staff. . But I won't return....
Getting back to golf
Course has a way to go to recover from last summer. Greens are in good condition. Fairways are recovering
fair price for the condition of the course
I like the layout of the course but the fairways are not the best of condition. The price was fair for the golf experience you get. The greens are good shape but all the holes are domed so you cannot trickle a putt in. They need to take more time when changing the holes to make sure they do not dome them.
very nice bargain for North SD
Staff is very helpful and friendly and the cost is quite reasonable. I wish that the front nine was as nice as the back nine
Good course conditions and value
I have played this course in the past and have always been frustrated with the course conditions or personal at the course. i am happy to say the personnel take care of you very well and the condition of the course has improved. The greens all roll true and are in great condition and the fairways and tees all have good grass on them. Typically you can get a great rate on this course and now with the improved conditions it is well worth it. I will be playing this course again in the future.
Fun Course, Bunkers Need Help
It has been several years since I last played this course. This round was on a Friday mid-morning and the pace of play was great since we barely saw anyone else on the course.
The clubhouse staff (of 1) was very welcoming and helpful.
The cart was clean and in good shape.
The greens were well tended as was most all of the rest of the course, with the exception of the bunkers. Most had virtually no sand, only mud. For some reason almost every bunker had squishy mud at the lowest spot, as if there had been a heavy rain in the previous few days, but it had not rained for over a week. This made play out of the mud almost as impossible as if they were bone dry.
Given the very reasonable cost of playing Eagle Crest, I think the course is a good value all in all
Nice greens
The course was fine. Winter conditions. The greens were really nice . Pace of play was excellent.
Great condition
The course is in great shape. This is the fourth time playing in many years. I must say it's the best condition i have seen it. Greens are great. Pace of play was normal. Staff is friendly.
Wish it was closer to home
We always enjoy our day at this course. Number one, the friendly staff makes the day. They are ready to answer questions and send us off with well wishes for a great day on the course. Although the course doesn't have a restaurant I was delighted when I called from hole eight and asked for a turkey sandwich to be ready at the turn. A friendly yes and a sandwich was ready. We continued on with more well wishes for the rest of our day. This friendliness just goes a long way for us in our enjoyment of the game. Even the gardeners out mowing and working on the course offer smiles and greetings. It is just plain and simple..... pleasant!
It is obvious that there is much going on to make improvements on the course. I must say, the fairways are always in pretty good condition, and the golfers seem to try to help take care of the course by fixing divots on the greens. The friendly atmosphere makes us all care.
Round at Eagle Crest
Always enjoy playing at Eagle Crest. The surroundings are magnificent and even though the golf course is located in a residential development most of the course is secluded and the layout keeps you away from the homes. Nature abounds in this rural valley and it's an extremely peaceful setting. Though the course conditions are a bit rough it's never a disappointment, especially for the price.
Great greens!
The good news is that for the most part the greens are great, fairly fast and with a true roll, but then again I have always liked the greens here over the course of many years. That is the good news. The not so good news is that the the rest of the course is in rough shape, but I knew that going in, so I made this strictly a practice round without keeping score as I really needed to figure out distances with a new set of clubs and an off brand rangefinder (Tec Tec Tec) that worked great.. The course, which has a nice layout needs a lot of work to bring back bare fairways, overhaul many of the bunkers and improve the tee boxes. The small maintenance staff appears to be doing the best they can, but they are not magicians. In order to bring this course up to the standards it opened with, a major overhaul involving significant investment in staff and materials is in order.
That said, it is a great practice course and good value as such, but not a course to show off to your friends.
Course is Improving
I played here last on a scorching hot day in August. At that time only the greens were decent; everything else was burned out badly.
I thought there was noticeable improvement in a few areas during this latest round despite no rain in the time since August.
Bunkers were iffy, some very firm and almost muddy, others with deep sand.
The greens are really in great shape. Frankly, I thought they were too fast but they rolled nicely and I enjoyed the challenge.
We were first out so pace was not an issue.
Overall, for the price and great pace I would definitely come back. xzs
It still needs some work
The course is still a works in progress. They are working on bringing her back...
on the upswing
Eagle Crest has improved a great deal in the last two months. Most fairways have grass now with irrigation much improved. The greens were improved even over a month ago, and were running faster than I've seen in recent memory. I have always enjoyed the course layout with some holes relatively narrow and others with beautiful terrain especially on the front nine. Kudos to the staff and their commitment to bring the course back.
value for money
Greens in great shape, fairways looking a bit worn but all in all great value for the fee we paid.
Our new favorite!
The course is beautiful. It is out in the country and is so quiet and serene complete with hawks and other birds soaring overhead. It is obvious that there is much effort to restore the fairways and greens. I've noticed that there has been new sand added to the traps each time we have been there recently as well. It is refreshing to land in a sand trap that has white fluffy sand in it.
The staff is most friendly and pleasant. The course is a bit far from us but the drive is worth it and I look forward to playing there again soon.
fading away
I have played this course for 20 plus years since it opened. Sadly it has fallen into a bad state.... lots of barren areas and ground under repair. The greens were still in good shape, but that is about all that was.
