Dos Osos Golf Club
About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Good Greens, but...
Course is in kind of rough shape, but they keep the greens in decent shape. so that's the most important thing, I suppose.
Fun time
The course is actually really fun to play . Of course the greens could be better but that doesn’t really matter when your out with friends having a great time. Pace of play was fantastic. The starter was really cool and friendly. I love this course.. thanks eaglecrest
Nice Greens
The fairways and tee boxes are kind of beat up, but the greens are in very nice condition - very true.
Horroble treatment by unprofessional staff
Our foursome played this course on a hot Thanksgiving Day for the first time. The greens were in fair condition; the fairways had quite a bit of foliage on them , making it difficult to locate balls. All the water coolers had no water in them and offensive graffiti on the pathways made the experience less enjoyable.
While playing at a fair pace,we were shocked when a staff member drove up at the 11th or 12th hole and yelled at us, "What do you think you are doing?" ... berating us for playing too slow. He stated that we should be finishing in three hours - a ridiculous claim.
The offensive encounter ruined the rest of our game. In all our years of golfing, we have never been treated so rudely before.
We will definately not be back.
Best bang for the buck in SD county
excellent tract layout. excellent greens. fairway grass is so-so. Tee boxes are so-so. Uncrowded.
Nature Wonderland
We enjoyed our day in many ways. The weather was perfect. The animals were out on the course and not afraid of us at all. We saw hawks soaring. We saw deer right on the fairways. We saw road runners on the greens. Rabits at dusk enjoying the beautiful green grass. It was animal lovers paradise.
I didn't play my best golf but will be back soon if possible to meet the challenge.
First Group Out Saturday Morning
What a pleasant surprise.... Eagle Crest is back! Course conditions were very good and most of the fairways and tee boxes were in great shape... that is... grass, where grass is supposed to be. We had played just over a year ago when they were experiencing significant irrigation issues and you needed a hammer to put a tee in the ground on several holes, and some of the fairways resembled an unpaved parking lot. Kudos to the maintenance team as I know it has taken a very large and very focused effort to get things fixed.
My buddy and I were extremely happy that there has also been significant improvement with the greens and the fact they are in the best shape we've ever seeing the last couple of years. To be quite honest we've avoided the course due to prior experiences, but had heard through friends that the course had seen many benefits from a solid maintenance effort. They were right on the money. The only down-side we experienced was the fact their coffee maker had broken the day before and that the person who runs the food-service grill wasn't arriving until after 9:30 or 10:00 AM. It would have been nice to have coffee since we ended up first out and experienced a bit of fog on the first two holes. The temp was around 45 degrees and after a couple holes we were able to start removing jackets, sweaters, etc.
In closing there are two things we will do based on this experience... First, we will put Eagle Crest back into our course rotation to play again. Second, I will buy a large thermos for coffee to take along if we end up being first out on the next round.
Thank you for the opportunity to share our experience and, finally...best of luck to all who keep calm and play through...
Still work to do
Took Eagle Crest up on their $20 play-all-day offer. Speed of play was good. As a single, I passed about 6 groups in the first round, only a few in the second round. Management appears to be working on course (blue and white tee boxes were closed for the most part), so had to tee off from temporary tees. Fairways are still spotty, but greens are in fantastic shape.
Lots of maintenance work going on, so hoping for overall course improvement in the coming months.
Almost back!
5 of us played the course yesterday (Nov. 2, 2017), and were glad to see the course in a lot better shape than recent reviews had claimed. The greens were nice & green, although a bit on the slow side, and the fairways & tee boxes, for the most part, filled-in and green. They now have water, so everything about the course is better. Although it's not back to where it was before the water crisis, it is certainly getting there, and most importantly, it is very playable. It is still one of the most interesting tracks in San Diego. If you haven't played it in a \while, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Great value for the money
This course is well worth the $20 we paid. There are brown spots on the fairway, however most of the fairways are in great condition and the greens were wonderful. The course layout was challenging, but very fair. All in all had a great time.
Greens were great, rest of the course not so.
No Marshall, very slow foursome in front of us never offered to let us play through. We skipped a Par 3 to get in font of them and never caught up to anyone else.
Good Course and Enjoy
I have played this course a few times before and enjoyed today very much. It seems that the fairway condition and shape have been much improved and that green is perfect. It was hot but there was cold drinking water on several holes and beverage cart was often going around. I think the club staff try to make big efforts for golfers. The course layout is fun to play. I wonder if all the holes could be "Cart Path Only" for a while for watering and seeding to improve the fairway condition more, so more golfers can come to play this course.
Eagle Crest is coming back!
I play here all the time. The maintenance has stepped up their game and the progress is noticeable. Especially right now that it's 90-100 degrees. #8 used to be barren and now it's a field of green. Yes, there is work to be done, but it's exciting to see the changes and I'll continue playing here because the layout is pretty awesome.
are u serious ?
I live on the course and frequent the putting green. I also just walk the course so I see almost everyday any progress. this place has every excuse as to why the place looks so ragged. For years neglect and laziness have taken a toll on a once nice course. The owners and management team look at the same problems every time they are there playing golf with their friends and the same lies are told about how the course is being worked on. Trees are cut or blown over from a lack of water and left. water ponds are drying up since the liners are never fixed and people always fishing in them and cattails that are never trimmed out. Walkways never edged. t boxes dry fairways patchy brown. Traps are rocky the rough is just that hard dry brown grass or just dirt. don't use a club to find a ball ob since every thing is soo dry you might start a fire so bring some water if you have the nerve to play here. Just remember the owners and management don't care about your complaints they just want your money.
Nice layout, poor shape
Course has a great layout, a lot of options other than just hitting driver on every hole. Condition of the course was very poor. Greens were in terrible shape and very little grass in the fairway. For what I paid, less than $20 on a Saturday, that was about what it was worth. Would come back in the future if they found a solution to their poor greens.
Challenging from beginning to the end
The course is in great shape for this time of the year(end of summer)
I play the course twice before and always has been a pleasure to take his challenge
