If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Outstanding playability.
Had a great time and shot low. Witnessed a lady behind us get a 155 yard hole in one. Outstanding conditions.
Big Rock
Course was in brilliant condition. Greens immaculate. Only issue we had was it was 113*F when we played and there was a lack of cold water stations around the course
Canadians visit Big Rock
I enjoyed a single round of 18 holes while my wife drove our cart fully equipped with GPS ... the course was in great condition, the greens rolled well and the weather was perfect ... club rental was very reasonable making for an enjoyable and affordable day! The adjoining pub is worth a visit to enjoy a bite and view displays of guitars and memorabilia signed by famous rock and roll legends
Fun
Course conditions were understandably fair for dry desert summer. Greens were the best condition/feature. Layout is very chopped up, through many houses with many road crossings. A couple crossings in high traffic area and a bit dangerous. Tight houses on many holes were a distraction. We had fun. Would play again at a lower price. Loved the Pub, music and food.
a nice morning
Started as a single and was invited to join three friendly gentlemen player after a few holes.
The greens were recently punched but other than that the course was in good shape.
The pace was good on this hot summer morning.
Unplayable Conditions
If notice was provided when booking on GolfNow that only 9 holes were open and those 9 holes were under maintenance recently punched and sanded I would not have wasted my time to go there and play along with wasting one of my $10 credits.
Unacceptable Condition
This course should not be open to the public at this time. I booked on GolfNow and there was no notification that the greens were recently punched and fresh sand on them all. Additionally only the back nine was open for play. So they offered you to play the back nine twice. It was a waste of money and driving time on my part. I should be given a credit.
Steamy mid day round
Course was in good shape as usual. Aeration is coming soon. So…. Went around solo in about 2:45. They never let the course go brown and dry out. Can’t say that about some courses out here. Greens always roll nicely.
Simple layout
Simple layout. Good condition. Plays fair, but really short Par 4’s for the ladies.
