If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Big Rock, Bug Surprise
Everything from start to finish, was perfect. Great staff and great course. Played SilverRock following day, save your money BigRock is in better shape and overall of play was great, done in under 4 hours.

One of my favorite courses. Good pace, great condition, excellent value. Friendly Staff. Play here every chance I get.

This course exceeded my expectations! Course was beautiful and in great shape! The golf shop staff were beyond welcoming! Very friendly and accommodating! Mike was so kind! We will definitely come back!
Good value, but.
Great staff good conditioning great greens.
But you have to pay for range balls.
Nice course
Lived down the street for years but never played. Open and nice layout, pace was pretty slow for sure. If your looking for a challenge, this is not it, but if you’re looking for a nice course that you can grip and rip, it’s here.
Too many partial groups
I played with another single behind a threesome that was very slow and there were at least three partial groups (twosomes, I believe) behind us. We felt sandwiched in and rushed only to wait for every shot. The starter should have insisted that the groups combine so that we had foursomes instead of twosomes. We called for a marshal but one never arrived. As a result the round was so frustrating it was difficult to enjoy.
Love this course
The course is a great course, wide open fairways and is definitely playable by average to great players. There was a group of men in front of us which held us up, (as well the two groups behind us), almost every hole. This isn’t a usual occurrence in my experience. How many times do you have to measure your putt!?
