If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

The Highlight of Our Golf Trip
A group of us were in the Desert last week for 4 days for golf. We golfed the day before at a course that couldn't even be called a dog track. Several people dropped out before Indian Springs because it was farther than the other courses or because the day before wS so miserable.
Those remaining all had a great day at Indian Springs. It actually had green grass, sand in the bunkers, puttable greens and shade at tees. This one is definitely going into our rotation for next year. And the food was great after the round.L
Great value for your money
First time playing Cimarron. Located near the PSP airport, great value and course for the money. Minimal penalty trouble on the course. Played from the tips, good challenge. Will play again!
Staff
Back shop staff are attentive. The gentleman who served us in the pro shop treated us like second class citizens because we booked with golf now. Our first impression for the day was not very good. Our tee time was 11:52.
Consistently Good
Always a pleasure to play. Forgiving fairways and large greens. Conditioning of the course is excellent and the greens run true and fast. Pace is 4 hours or less. Clubhouse is spectacular if you enjoy a music themed retro vibe.
Friendly, welcoming staff, excellent course
This was the least expensive course we booked on our 5 day golf trip so I my expectations o fthe course was subpar. Was I pleasantly surprised! Beautiful course, in great shape, and the nicest staff we encountered! I would definitely go back! Thanks for a great experience!
