If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

YIKES - NO marshal
With no afternoon Marshal, pace of play was awful!!
The two leisurely foursomes in from of us, by #13, had four open holes in front of them - resulting in us playing only 15 before dark, Grrrr
Resort corse
Resort style course surrounded by homes on each hole. Generous landing areas. Nice greens not particularly fast. Decent layout for what it is; nothing extraordinary. Decent value.
Nice course!
My wife and I played with member Tom (retried Cop) and had a nice round. Tom was very hospitable and gave us tips all day. Course was in great shape. Greens a little slow as expected due to recent over seeding. Nice friendly layout and some good scenic holes. Staff very very nice. Good pace. We tee off at 12 and finished in under 4 hrs. No Marshall or refreshments cart so bring lots of water, etc. good value for $.
Rocking Big Rock
FIrst time here....2some teed off at 130 and finished at 5pm (I know..amazing!) Good conditions but some may not be a fan of resrt community layout. I thought the fairways were in general very generous.
Worth playing if you get a good rate (~$80)
Big Rock
I love the course and understandably with reseeding course still growing back. Only issue was players getting lost ahead of us around hole #10 and then cutting back in on #13 slowing us down. No marshall to help keep players in position.
best golf in the desert
Course conditions and pace of play were excellent. Finished in just under 4 hours and never had to wait and never saw the group behind us. As it was cart path only, we expected it to be slow - not so. Congratulations to management for making it our most enjoyable round.
Big rock rocks
Even though the transition from summer to winter grass is still proceeding the greens were excellent and the fairways good
Good Value.
I would definitely play here again. Challenging yet fare. Greens were a little slow. Maybe an 8. Worth the value.
