If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Nice course!
My wife and I played with member Tom (retried Cop) and had a nice round. Tom was very hospitable and gave us tips all day. Course was in great shape. Greens a little slow as expected due to recent over seeding. Nice friendly layout and some good scenic holes. Staff very very nice. Good pace. We tee off at 12 and finished in under 4 hrs. No Marshall or refreshments cart so bring lots of water, etc. good value for $.
Rocking Big Rock
FIrst time here....2some teed off at 130 and finished at 5pm (I know..amazing!) Good conditions but some may not be a fan of resrt community layout. I thought the fairways were in general very generous.
Worth playing if you get a good rate (~$80)
Big Rock
I love the course and understandably with reseeding course still growing back. Only issue was players getting lost ahead of us around hole #10 and then cutting back in on #13 slowing us down. No marshall to help keep players in position.
best golf in the desert
Course conditions and pace of play were excellent. Finished in just under 4 hours and never had to wait and never saw the group behind us. As it was cart path only, we expected it to be slow - not so. Congratulations to management for making it our most enjoyable round.
Big rock rocks
Even though the transition from summer to winter grass is still proceeding the greens were excellent and the fairways good

I would definitely play here again. Challenging yet fare. Greens were a little slow. Maybe an 8. Worth the value.

We enjoyed our golf day. Interesting layout set well back from homes for the most part. Pleased to have played here.

Staff were first class, first day back after fall over seeding as expected fairways were excellent, greens were slow, cart path only ,finished round 4hrs 5mins.

Great customer service
Had one cart that the battery light was flashing by the second hole. Someone came out with a fresh cart by the fifth hole. They checked the other cart and we had a 13th battery power left so told us to get another cart after 9 which we did. Thanks
Great pub attached to the clubhouse for a pint when we were done golfing. Great Day!
