If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Great experience but no Marshalls
groups were bundled together closely and we were on top of the group all the time in front of us, yet two guys behind us kept hitting into us and we had nowhere to go. There was no Marshall on the course when we played. But I really like this course and the restaurant on location
With a beginner
I took my 15 year old son to this course for his first round at a longer course. It was perfect for him to get that experience and he enjoyed it. There is a little water but otherwise pretty open for the most part.
Glad I came back
Hadn't played here in over 5 years. Course was in great shape for middle of summer. The greens were the best I played in the valley all week. Pace of play was terrific. My only complaint was that there was no drinking water out on the course in 100+ temperatures.
One of my favorite places
The course is usually in excellent condition but today the greens were not as manicured as usual. I suppose it is because of the extreme heat. I will return as often as possible because it is fun, not extremely difficult, but has its challenges.
Great Day
Love this course! They are plugging the course for reseeding (played on 7/22) so a couple of holes were all plugged, but it's a great value and fun course. The pub/restaurant is fun too with a super friendly staff. Will definitely go back!
Fun & Enjoyable
Fun and enjoyable course. Could be called (relatively) easy, and average length with appropriate bunkering (and some water) keep golfers thinking and having to make shots. Some nice longer length par 3s (for a change). The condition of both fairways and greens was excellent, but the tee boxes could use some mowing. Highly recommend this course for a fun day out.

Nwell maintained, open fairways, not ovely difficult but still some challenge.
Can’t beat the staff
Wow I must say for a public course it deserves to be considered private course!!! The staff is perfect, friendly, and on point. Helped me with the bags made sure i had plenty of ice and water and also cleaned my clubs off for me at the end of the round and also helped me load the bags into the car!!! WOW!! I definitely gave a generous tip because it was so amazing. I Will definitely be coming back next time I want to feel like a member. 10/10

I like they have to go hot dogs, pizza, bevs & snacks in pro shop. Water stations abundant. Course in really good shape. Great pace.
