If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Very playable
Good layout, fun to play. On vaca from Washington so seeing the ball run out this time of year is a treat for me.
The greens were firm and pretty good speed. Challenging par 3's and some
reachable per 5's if you want to risk the over water shot. The blue tees have plenty of yardage but i think it's more enjoyable from the white tees for most of us.
Nice Greens
Great value. Pace of play was excellent and the Greens were in great shape. Definitely worth it. Great selection of tees, wide fairways with a few water holes. Nice mountain views. Deck overlooking 18 with plenty of patio seating.

Course layout is strange and you have to cross a lighted intersection to hit 10-23.
Golf shop tried to change my time with almost no warmup and was rude about it
Cart was nearly out of battery
Nice Course
The course was in good condition. The pace of play was a little slow as we waited on the group ahead of us quite often. However, we still finished in 4 hours. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Great Greens, Great Value
Played in the early afternoon, exceptional value ($67.50). Greens were in great shape, rolled good and true. Fairways and traps all in good shape. A great resort course with some water holes. Generous fairways and plenty of tee options (five from 6700 to 5100 and slopes from 127 to 108). Pace of play was very good. Outdoor patio open for food and drinks. Nicely elevated with a great view of golfers on ten and eighteen. The course has lots of good views of the mountains. A great change of pace and centrally located in La Quinta. Definitely a good value for the money.

Never dissatisfied. Anyways in perfect condition. And such beautiful days in February.
Fun track but staff left early
Teed off at noon. Finished at 4:00. No beverage cart or club cleaning service. Not great considering we paid 100 per person
Fun round, challenging course
We enjoyed playing Big Rock again, but it was definitely on the expensive side for 2 golfers! The course has plenty of challenges, and the weather was just beautiful. Because it was Super Bowl Sunday, it wasn't terribly crowded and the pace was great - until we got to the back 9! All of a sudden, or so it seemed, there were 3 groups in front of us. We hadn't had any real wait on any of the front 9 holes, so not sure how that happened. Still a fun day on the course!
Big Rock - Indian Springs
Today play was slow, we hooked up with the twosome behind us and finished out. Even with slow play we finished in under 4 hours. Course is in great shape and weather was perfect.
Once again....very enjoyable
Very enjoyable as always. The course is in excellent condition and the pace of play was ideal.
