PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course

Challenging greens guarded by sand traps and target fairways made it difficult for beginners to play. The course was in excellent condition- tee blocks, fairways, and greens.

If you are 15+ handicapper you most likely won’t shoot well at this course. As with any Pete Dye course the elevated greens penalize an inaccurate approach shot. Shots that would normally stay on the green roll off and even your green side chip and sand shots often result in another green side chip or sand shot.

Fairly flat with thick rough and some water. I was expecting more desert conditions on the course. Sand bunkers were hard with very little sand. Greens were fast and fair.

The guy at the desk, said he could not find any reservation around 11 am. I booked on Golfnow and seems you don't have that in your system?

Fun Pete Dye course and typical. Short irons to many greens thinking birdie, only to be scrambling to make bogey. Back 9 is much more scenic and makes the round worth it. Pace of play is slow, but not terrible. Overall fun course which gives you a taste of the Mountain Course scenery with a little more reasonable price point.

PGA West Dunes course is a very good course with an interesting layout and great undulating greens. It is tough enough with plenty of water and traps spotted throughout.

It does need more sand in the traps, larger tee blocks due to the many divots on the tees and a couple of dogs to keep the ducks in the ponds. Seventeen green was unplayable due to the volume of duck fecal matter on the green.

Overall great lunch before and good experience playing PGA West Dunes course.

Course was in fabulous condition. Staff was extremely friendly. Weather was great! A must play when out in the desert.
