Course was in horrible condition for that time of the year. Have played it in the summer in better condition.

Ripped OFF

I left my clubs in the bag stand while I went in to pay and had my 60 degree Volke Wedge stolen. The staff was no help and rebuffed all my requests to pull the security tape for 8:45 AM Nov 22. Really disappointed in the lack of service.

Not impressive

The Dunes course is NOT an expected PGA West quality course. It is a PGA West branded course with the high price but nothing else.

I knew it wasn’t the same, but expected conditions better than this.

The layout isn’t bad … lots of nice rolling hills. Homes border every hole except the last 4. The greens are small and have some nice rolls to them. But the grass was worn. The tees were not very good.

We saw a beverage cart once on hole 13 and it only had 4 sandwiches left so we didn’t have any choices.

Ultimately I felt like I was at my local public course, except for the nice rolling fairways.

Only Play the Back 9, Thank me later!

Played the Mountain course last week and it was spectacular. Figured I would bring my dad to try out the Dunes before we play the Mountain next week. Was expecting greatness as the mountain course was awesome. I couldn't have been more wrong. The course was in embarrassingly terrible shape. One of the worst I've played all year. We almost quit after 3 holes. I was embarrassed to post a picture on my Instagram it was so bad. Tee boxes were dry and beat, fairways were terrible, greens were horrible. Some were patched together with spots missing. Some holes were surrounded by fences with barb wire. I felt like I was playing a round of golf on Skid Row. We continued on as it was a beautiful day. Then we got to the back and it was like we were teleported to a new golf course. Beautiful holes with water and Mountain View's. The layout was great and fun to play. We had a great time. Never saw the cart girl the whole 18, could have used a couple drinks during the front. If I were to go back I would only play the back as the front was complete garbage.

A typical Pete Dye punishment!

As in the case with all of the PGA West courses, the Dye Dunes course was in very good shape. There were a few barren spots, but not enough to be a distraction. But in Pete Dye fashion, there was a LOT of punishment on this course. Even hitting good shots wound up in grass bunkers with grass so thick you couldn't get out. Greens were crowned and hard enough that shots into them wouldn't hold. If you played the wrong tee markers, it was even more difficult. Hint: Play the Mountain Course...just as pretty without being so penal!
