Willow Creek Golf Course
About
Situated between Greenville and Spartanburg, Willow Creek Golf Course is a favorite course amongst many area players. The course has a classic layout that starts out gently with a player-friendly front nine but then becomes much more challenging on the back nine. The layout is a seemingly mild 6,890 yards from the back tees but it can feel longer because of all the elevation changes you'll encounter. It's a golf course that will appeal to beginners but advanced players will also enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities that can be found throughout. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there is a slew of strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The par-5 fifth hole is Willow Creek Golf Course's signature. This 516-yard hole tumbles across rolling hills with a stream that cuts right through the fairway.

Good Course, On Course Staff Need Improvement
I like the course a lot. Has a lot of interesting holes. But I do have a problem with the on course management. There was a frost delay of 3 hours, but was only 30 minutes behind by the time I got there. But the starter forced me to play with another twosome, even with it being almost caught up. I've never been forced to join a group as a single until this round and I've played for several years. And even though the course had a person marked as ranger, he didn't seem to really be doing anything but riding around. He certainly wasn't getting pace of play on track. I left after nine holes because it was going to take five plus hours to get through the round, which is frankly ridiculous. Had to wait on every shot at least 5-10 minutes for the group in front. I don't know why the course would have a ranger if the ranger is not going to actually do the ranger job. And if I was going to be forced to play with a group when I wanted to play by myself, that should have been communicated to me really before I even booked the round. I like the course, so I'm sure I'll go back. But this was not a great experience from the on course staff seemingly not knowing what they were doing.
Solid
Willow Creek is solid public golf. The course is in good shape, especially for mid November. The greens were firm and relatively fast. Fairways are still in good shape. The one bunker I was in was ok. The rough is in that weird semi dormant shape we get in NC and SC before the first "killing" frost. This makes for some funky lies especially when chipping around the green. Its not an overly long layout from the white tees, just under 6000 yards, but many of the holes challenge you with doglegs, elevation changes, and tricky greens. Overall, it s a fun play, and worth the amount they are currently charging.
Nice course, plan to return
We picked this course because of the overall positive reviews and the reasonable price -- we definitely got the value we were expecting. Staff was competent and friendly, overall conditions were "good" -- not "perfect", but never a problem (biggest challenge was leaves everywhere in the rough made finding balls a challenge). Greens in very good condition, putted true. We never waited, finished in 4:15. Fairways are wide, but miss the fairways and you will be sad-face. Water, sand (in good shape) -- it's not long, but it's not vanilla. We will return -- good day, especially for the price.
Willow Creek Greer
Granted it was my fault I was less then 10 minutes late, but the staff was very rude as well as the people I came in contact with through out my round. I guess unless your a member you are treated differently. I would not recommend playing this course.
Pleasant course and Staff
I was nicely surprised, (after a stressful morning of dead battery, dealership replacement and 2 hour delay) that when I finally got to the course, it wasn't a problem to honor my paid round with my husband. Impressed and grateful to the man at the desk for accommodating us! Course was in very good shape and playable with downed trees not in the way...considering the hurricane was only days earlier.

The course was in excellent shape. However, the first 9 holes took 2 hours and 45 minutes. Slowest round of golf ever. The 2nd 9 was a little better. We started ont he back. I think they overbooked.
