Willow Creek Golf Course
About
Situated between Greenville and Spartanburg, Willow Creek Golf Course is a favorite course amongst many area players. The course has a classic layout that starts out gently with a player-friendly front nine but then becomes much more challenging on the back nine. The layout is a seemingly mild 6,890 yards from the back tees but it can feel longer because of all the elevation changes you'll encounter. It's a golf course that will appeal to beginners but advanced players will also enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities that can be found throughout. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there is a slew of strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The par-5 fifth hole is Willow Creek Golf Course's signature. This 516-yard hole tumbles across rolling hills with a stream that cuts right through the fairway.

Worth the drive
I drove an hour to play this course haven't played it several years greens were great shape fairways were very good and coming in overall great day fun day great course 🤸👍👍
Good Course
Good Course usually
Conditions were poor on day of play due to severe storms overnight not the fault of staff
Course had raised rates above what was booked and confirmed online but see that is now corrected for upcoming weekend
Restaurant has very good menu with some of the most competitive prices of other courses in area
Willow Creek Golf and country club
Cold but sunny day.
Nice layout.
The greens were true.
Sand traps were still in winter mode. Some were soft.
They will be more consistent as the weather improves.
The day started at about 35°F. The supervisor did a great job protecting the Greens from the frost.
Thanks for a fun round.
Slowwwww
Beautiful course but terrible pace of play . Seem to always have large groups out here that play at a snails pace. They have course rangers but nothing is done to keep pace of play. I continue coming out here to play hoping for the best but leave every time annoyed that I was dumb enough to think pace would be better.
Willow Creek
Great course but always slow. You could solve the problem by having a ranger on the course. There are always one or two groups that slow the pace taking the fun out of it for all
Final run for the year
For a late December round , the course is in great shape. Greens roll true and smooth, traps were in great condition, tee boxes and fairways were good. Very frustrating pace of play. Rangers driving in carts but just drove around. It was a wait on every single shot. Didn’t help with 2 players of foresome in front playing from blue tees and never hit it past the red tees.
Don’t play here
Staff for the most part is great. Golfers have no etiquette. Rangers don’t enforce rules.
Willow creek GC
210 T time got paired with 2 hackers and didn't get to finish round due to course closes at dusk. Played 15 holes, no return on $.I'm taking blame for this round will not play after 1pm to be able to finish
Slow pace as always
Willow Creek is a very nice course. The layout is great and the course is always in good condition. My only complaint is it’s never a good pace of play. They do have a ranger driving around but I don’t think they ever get on anyone for slow pace of play. It’s painful waiting for a long period of time in between every single shot. I’ve played there about a dozen times and this pace of play seems to be the norm which takes a ton of joy out of the game for me.
Good Course, On Course Staff Need Improvement
I like the course a lot. Has a lot of interesting holes. But I do have a problem with the on course management. There was a frost delay of 3 hours, but was only 30 minutes behind by the time I got there. But the starter forced me to play with another twosome, even with it being almost caught up. I've never been forced to join a group as a single until this round and I've played for several years. And even though the course had a person marked as ranger, he didn't seem to really be doing anything but riding around. He certainly wasn't getting pace of play on track. I left after nine holes because it was going to take five plus hours to get through the round, which is frankly ridiculous. Had to wait on every shot at least 5-10 minutes for the group in front. I don't know why the course would have a ranger if the ranger is not going to actually do the ranger job. And if I was going to be forced to play with a group when I wanted to play by myself, that should have been communicated to me really before I even booked the round. I like the course, so I'm sure I'll go back. But this was not a great experience from the on course staff seemingly not knowing what they were doing.
Solid
Willow Creek is solid public golf. The course is in good shape, especially for mid November. The greens were firm and relatively fast. Fairways are still in good shape. The one bunker I was in was ok. The rough is in that weird semi dormant shape we get in NC and SC before the first "killing" frost. This makes for some funky lies especially when chipping around the green. Its not an overly long layout from the white tees, just under 6000 yards, but many of the holes challenge you with doglegs, elevation changes, and tricky greens. Overall, it s a fun play, and worth the amount they are currently charging.
