Power Ranch Golf Club
About
With its neighbors being the Santan Range and Superstition Mountain, it is no wonder Power Ranch Golf Club (formerly known as Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch) is known for its spectacular views. Although this championship golf course is near a residential area, the course architect, Dick Bailey, insists the homes were routed to accommodate the golf course and not vice versa. The holes amble through the cleansed desert of the Queen Creek wash, which features plenty of interesting elevation changes. Strategically placed mounding and bunkers are situated throughout the golf course. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. Four sets of tee boxes are available to test experienced golfers and allow beginners to enjoy Power Ranch Golf Club as well.

How come I always have to hit my ball here? Photo submitted by cofgrindr8 on 12/10/2013
Course Conditions
I have played this course many times, but the condition of the greens was poor with dead and potted areas on many of the greens. This made it difficult to have a true roll on the putt. Fairways were rough as well. This most likely is an anomaly, but I wonder if it has something to do with the brand transition from Trilogy to Power Ranch.
WORKING ON GREENS
Like so many courses this time of year, the greens were not in good shape. They had been heavily sanded a month ago and were very bumpy but coming back 65%. I have played this course many times and the greens can be very nice when in good condition.
Course is unplayable
I haven’t played this course in about five years. It used to be one of my favorite courses to play. They have some type of fungus in the greens now and it makes them impossible to putt on. The fairways are thin in places which is normal for this time of the year but they are airatting them. Huge plugs everywhere in the fairways. Completely impossible to play. I played nine holes and quit. I did go into the pro shop and they gladly refunded my money.
Nice Course - Greens were unplayable
I knew there was an aeration alert for the greens, but there should have been a massive repair alert. I only putted the first 3 holes then gave up. I suspect the greens are fabulous when they are finished.
Greens need help
Course has a great layout. The fairways were in pretty good condition but, the greens were terrible and a lot of them were under repair. Aeration was recently done which seemed to cause more harm then good.
No putter needed
Greens are so bad they look like bunkers. All 18 greens have major issues: more sand than grass.
Course ok shape
I like they layout of course but greens we not very good shape no sand in sand trap loot of bare spots on greens and fairways. Some holes are better. Need to lower rate based on condition of course
Greens horrible
The fairway was under repair so that was understandable but the greens are all half dead. It’s a shame because this used to be a good course.
Bad Shape
Course was in really bad shape. Lots of dirt patches on every green. Some fairways, especially on back 9 looked like they had been double punched with dirt clods all over the place. Pro shop never said anything about the condition nor had it been displayed on website. New owners should close down for a week or two to get it back to shape. Putting green was missing (again), they had redone it last year and are redoing again.
Not Worth It
We were invited to play this course by a client. We took a look at some of the previous reviews and thought surely it wasn’t this bad. It wasn’t. It was worse.
The greens are not playable and probably won’t be until winter reseeding. No beverage cart was visible during our 18 hole round. Once we were provided our cart, the only person we saw on the course was an occasional grounds worker trying to water what was left of a green. In short, we had heard great things about this course, but its condition is not worth it at an price, and our round was free!
Worse Greens EVER !!
Course layout was excellent but it was over shadowed by the absolute worse greens I've ever played!!
My planning partner and I just gave up lining up our puts so we played closest to the pin on our approach shots.
Sprinklers were on completely watering 3 or 4 holes and we had to wait for maintenance crews to move in order to play through.
Disappointed overall but lets hope a lot of TLC will be spent on the greens so their playable !!
