Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Beautiful Day For Golf Really Enjoyed Playing This Course & You Can't Beat The Price !!
Fun course
We have played this course in past years and found it to be a fun course. Some longer par fours add to the difficulty.
Hi "rpangman" Thanks for the great review, cant wait for your return on your next visit from Canada!
value
Decent Value for your money Staff is always friendly Course could use some extra attention
Hi "Flyer86man " Thank you for your review, after the recent overseed the course is definitely getting back to proper shape. We hope you will give us another try in the near future.
Has potential
Course was under construction carts were used poor condition hard to follow hole to hole direction. I hope the course will improve , rough was in poor condition will check back in a few months.
Hi "BurchRacing" thank you for you review, the course was recently overseeded. The course will be in proper shape here in the next few weeks. Please come back and give us another try.
Rough was thick
Pulling up I was surprised at the course conditions for late summer. The greens were really good and the fairway was kept well but the rough was crazy thick and there is just no need for 5-8 inch rough just off the fairway. Other than that it was a good experience but just wish they would of kept perimeter a little more maintained.
Hi "rick1791301" Thank you for your honest review. We will take your comments into consideration and reevaluate the rough. Thanks for the review and we hope to see you out of the course soon!
No maintence
Course could be nice
But it seems like there lawn mower broke down
Staff is not rude but not friendly either
Hi "u304074284" Thank you for your comments, we will review our maintenance / staff and readdress the situation. Thank you for making us aware of the current issues at the course.
Desert Fun
I enjoy playing this course because it provides just enough of a challenge to keep you on our toes, but not detract from an overall joyful experience. The desert view is very nice. There is plenty of desert wildlife on the course to make it fun just to ride down the fairways. It's not fancy, which I like. The atmosphere is southwest country.
Hi "javaguy58" Thank you for taking time to review our course, we really appreciate it. So glad you had a wonderful time. Please come back and visit us soon!
Relaxed, small town feel.
Very few rules here, go and practice your game feel. The tradional / typical, tournament play feel golf course (not Estrella Mountain's, Tres Rio), multiplies the stress levels of novice and high handicap players. The tables are turned here at Estrella Mountain Tres Rio - An experienced player or group could be the ones with addional stress due to course condition and non traditional play of the general players there. The course layout is tight on many holes. If you are at all self conscience about your golf inability, this is the course for us :).
Hi "u000006315558" We apologize that you did not enjoy your round today. Tres Rios welcomes all skill levels to come play at the course. It is a challenge for all types of golfers. We hope to see you out on the course in the near future.
Beware
Tres Rios is golf for golf's sake. Cheap .. Mostly Playable conditions .. They send you out and forget about you. It is a haven for bad, slow players. Bad golf Is part of he game, I get it. I'm bad too. Slow, stupid play is unforgivable.
Beware the $10 Wednesday deal. It attracts people who don't belong on a regulation length 18 hole course. Slow, slow, slow, slow. Today, I walked in after 12 holes ( had to be somewhere) and we were three hours in already. We were the third group off .. Teed off at 6:08 am. Just brutal. No Rangers, no marshals, no drink cart, they charge you for ice and water.
You get what you pay for here.
Hi "jmsqabq" We are sorry about your experience at Tres Rios on this particular day. We strive for a pace of play around 4 hours 20 minutes no matter what time of day you tee off at. The $10.00 deal is a great price no matter what skill level you are. Apologize for the slow play and hope you will give us another try in the near future.
An older course not for the faint of heart.
It's an old course in need of updating. Most of the fairways are in fair condition but there are very course undulations that detract from the playability. Even the cart paths are rough. I would not recommend this course to the older player. It's just not a pleasant experience. The staff are outstanding but can't make up for the overall condition of the course.
Hi "Ronald6245426" Thank you for your honest review. We are working hard to improve overall course conditions. We appreciate your patience during this time and hope that you will visit us again in the near future. Thanks MGT
goat ranch
not a very pretty or scenic golf course. not in very good condition except the greens were in good shape. flat boring golf course. no rangers on the course to keep play going smooth. you usually get what you pay for!!
Hi "u000001465642" thank you for your honest review. We are sorry the course was not in the proper condition on this day of play. We are working on resolving many of the current issues, we appreciate your patience during this time.
An old facility in need of upkeep
We played as a 3some today and didnt expect too much for the $15 green fee. The course was extremely dry, in MANY places it was like hitting off concrete. The restrooms and cart paths are in need of renovation. The course cart paths are a challenge to work thru, as they often start and stop for no reason. We stopped for lunch and received COLD hotdogs and when we asked for ice we were told we could only have one scoop for the cart. The deli staff was not nice and even told us when we checked in that she might be closing early. Our guess was she did not want to be at work today. The old water fountains that havent been used in years are still sitting around. While this course may have been great once it has apparently fallen on hard times. The best part of the round was the proximity to the mountains with tons of road-runners and hawks over-head
Hi "NJmike71" We apologize for the many issues that you endured on this particular day. The course was recently taken over by new management. We are working to resolve many of these issues day by day with time. As for the restaurant, the ice machine was broken on this day and was in the process of being fixed, which is the reason for the limited ice in the grill room. We apologize for these issues, and we hope that you will give us another try in the near future.
needs some upkeep
The staff was very friendly. We were offered a sleeve of balls, range access, meal and a cart with our round.
The first several holes were flooded and muddy, leaving balls hit even in the middle of the fairway to be soaked in undrained water.
Hi "mcoppers " We are sorry about your experience. Unfortunately on this particular day we had a water line bust near the first green which flooded the first few holes. This issue was resolved immediately that day. Please do not let this one experience differ you from playing our course again as this issue was out of our control.
slow pace, lack of cold water in 112 degree weather is rather unacceptable
Like my title says, was slow, single played the round for 3:30 hours, went through 3 groups and still slow. It is 112 degrees out, there are no cold water and the faucet are not working, $10 was cheap but come on no water in AZ?? Staff was friendly and the course was challenging, although some tee boxes are rather confusing, layout is not very obvious. The green is kept rather decently in this heat, but the the tall grass will make sure you lose some balls(bring plenty or don't hit it awry)
Hi "SennamonT" Thank you for your feedback, we have taken note on this situation and have already spoken to the staff about the current water situation. We value your feedback and we hope that you will give us another try as we are working to resolve these issues.
Fun course
Fun place to play for my level of play. Good layout and plenty of challenge. Good value. I will be back.
Great day at Tres Rios
We had a great day. Noticed the improved fairways and noticed there are no more gofer holes. Excellent job!!! Pro shop staff was great but felt we needed to apologize to the café worker for making an order.
In rough shape
The layout of this course is pretty nice and the surrounding area is also nice, but the fairways are very bumpy and poorly manicured and the greens were atrocious. The course has potential but a lot more money and a lot more management skill will be necessary to bring this course up to an acceptable level.
A bit disappointing.
Bought a "Lunch Special Round", but restaurant service closed down early. Female behind restaurant counter seemed bothered to help and/or assist. Gentleman in pro shop, very nice on other hand. Course was considerably littered with leaves, making it very diff to spot ball. Probably, would not return anytime soon, in hopes things change.
Good course close to where we live.
Enjoyed the course with my grandson. Fairways and greens were hard and fast.
Great Value
Very fun course. I love that there is no houses on the golf course.
