About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

rough conditions
Greens bad shape, but easy coursection good for beginners.
Dust Bowl
Fairways were bare, greens were in poor shape, difficulty following the course lay out.
Terrible for a Muni
This course needs a revamping BIGTIME, I don't understand how a municipal course could get this bad, ive played here in the summer and nothing changes...lots of dirt on fairways where grass should be, sad state of affairs in Avondale on this one. don't waste your money
hard and dry fareways
The course was very crowded and there no marshals so it got very backed up. 5 hr round and the course conditions were very hard. The greens were not receptive and the fare ways were hard to chip from.
Not like the pictures show
When we arrived the tee times were running 20 late. The course looks nothing like the pictures on the web site. The fairways had very little grass. It looked more like a cow pasture than a golf course. Some of the greens had 2 to 3ft spots with no grass, just sand. When we got to the tee box on most of the holes the 4some in front of us was still waiting to hit. We quite after 11 holes the wait at the tee box's was going to make the round around 5 1/2 hours
The worst golf outing I have ever experienced!!!!!
Just ok
Course was hard to navigate in some spots, not defined fairways and they run right next to each other on many holes, made it tough for our first time there. Also had to wait on other golfers that were hitting to a different hole from our fairway, they didnt have particullarly bad shots but because fairway ran adjacent it happens. We went off early morning so no problem with pace but it looked packed as the day progressed. Greens were ok, fairways were marginal to ok. Rental clubs were nice. Played it becasue we could get on at the last minute in a time frame that worked with our travel plans, not likely to ever play there again unless it was the only option.
This course has decent features
This course is challenging from the tips. Mature trees make it tough when you miss the fairway. The manicure of the course need serious attention. The greens wasn't that bad but needs som TLC as well. Overall 3 star in my opinion.
Got a raw deal thur Golf Now
We booked this course in November thru Golf Now price was around $44.00 a person, so booked it again last week. We were paired with another couple who booked their tee time on an internet sight, he thought it was connected with Golf Now. They paid $20.00 total plus got a coupon for 2 hotdogs with drinks free. This is quite a difference. Do not think we will be playing this course again and will think twice before using Golf Now again.
100% Disappointing
I booked this tee time last minute wanting to get a round in after work and was thoroughly disappointed. Dead spots on greens, very inconsistent rolls on greens, entire course was hard as a rock. Miss the fairway and your hitting off of concrete. Even some shots out of the middle of the fairway were like hitting out of the desert. Teed off at 1:35, did not finish till well past 6:30. Encountered multiple 5somes and waits on almost every shot, not just tee boxes. Cart died on hole 17 and had to be pushed back to clubhouse. Major waste of the discounted twilight fee of $38.
Don't bother playing here....
Had to be the slowest game of golf I've ever played. Two to three foursomes at every hole waiting to play. The course needs water badly and there's times when you're pitching from sand six feet from the green. I wouldn't play this course again.
Over booked course
Very unhappy with Tres Rios. Signed up for the 2:15 lunchspecial. There were no carts available for our tee time. Also seven people were assigned to the same tee time of 2:15. After waiting until 2:30 we got started. The course was so over booked it took 40 minutes to play two holes. The pace of play was so slow that we could only finish 13 holes. Great idea but very bad execution.
Tres Rios Golf Course
The course was in very poor condition. It took 5:15 Hrs. to play. There NO water on the entire course. I will not be going back to this course.
Overbooked or poor scheduling
Due to overbooking or poor scheduling or not announcing who was next or lack of carts or all of the above resulted in a pace of play the was horrible unless you want to stand around at the tees with the group in front of you and behind you while another group tries to finish. In 4 hours we were able to get in 13 holes. The staff could of used some help. The course is in better condition than last year. I would have a hard time recommending this course
Course is OK if you stay in fairway
Played it a few years ago before name change. It was in much better shape then. Very busy due to low green fees. The rough was in bad shape with a lot of bare spots. Green were good and fairways in good shape.
Do not be in a hurry.
Neglected course
Course looks like it was abandoned. Poorly maintained throughout, with greens rock hard. Even Tee boxes are so hard it's difficult to set your tee. The only redeeming point is the price (including a dog and a beer) with a special discount. But I couldn't recommend the course. Perhaps when they begin to water and groom the course it will be worth a return round.
Slow Play
When I arrived at the course, I was hopeful to get out early. I was informed that my tee time would be 20 minutes after my sscheduled tee time, making it impossible to play 18 holes before dark. Also the group in front of us were playing very slow and no Marshall to enforce the speed of play.
terrible conditions
conditions were terrible, front nine took 3 hours. Will never play here again
White Tees
They have done a good job getting the white tees back to matching the score card. Only 11 and 12 are wrong. Don't know if this is a result of the women playing a tournament there. Course in pretty good shape with the exception of the green on number two which is still not good. Overall great deal for the money.
FAIR CONDITION
NEEDS HELP. BARE SPOTS IN PLACES. PLAYED FRONT IN UNDER 2 HOURS BUT BACK WAS VERY SLOW QUIT AFTER HOLE 14 TOOK 90 MINUTES TO PLAY 4 HOLES, NO RANGER! IS CHEAP TO PLAY IF YOU HAVE ALL DAY.
this review was for Tres Rios, not Estrella Mountain...
