Golf Club of Estrella

This course is a wonderful challenge. Great layout and scenic as can be. But right now the grass is rough and I can't recommend playing here. Hopefully they will get it back into shape and then it's a hidden gem again.

Absolutely terrible! Tee box suck not a green or level surface! Fairways are the softest conditions ever! Fringe is mud! Would not go back and there is no warning of the things they are trying to do! Junior national is in better condition!

The course was in very poor condition from tee to green. Most of the tee boxes were dead or dying. The fairways were thin and crusty. They were surprisingly soft in some dead/thin areas and hard in others. Nearly all of the aprons around the greens were crusty and painted green. The greens themselves were the weirdest part nothing putted true at all. Most of the greens were lightning fast while a few were relatively slow in comparison absolutely no consistency between greens. The plastic cups for the holes were barely below the surface so if you putt had any speed at all coming in the ball would hit the plastic and bounce or turn at the hole. The cup should be lower in the ground so it does effect the ball. Every single sand trap was just hard packed dirt or a mud puddle. There was no sand in them at all. Just a bunch of ditches on the course. The absolute worse part was the three some which turned the entire day into a nearly 5 hour round. There were rangers on the course but they did not once attempt to speed up these players who were clearly causing a log jam behind them. Really the only thing good about this place was the staff. (not the rangers who did nothing to keep pace.) I really wish we knew about the course conditions before we booked as we would have gone elsewhere.

Muddy, areas plugged and burned out around greens. It was nothing like I had heard from others. If it was in better condition it would be a good course to play regularly.

Wait staff on and off course was great.

This was the worst I had seen Estrella. Being a Troon course tbh is was very disappointing as the fairways were not green. Around the greens were all black and dead dirt.

Tee boxes on 80% of the tees were bare,

No signage for visiting golfers, ready to get lost.

Cart stops working if you get too close to natural vegetation but no warning signs.

Bunkers were hard and quite a few very wet.

Range area was just like the tee boxes, should have been a warning.

Comfort stations were locked. No key and no combination lock!

Food was greasy.

Definitely a course that Troon golf have forgotten they manage.

The course was muddy from being drenched trying to bring the burnt grass back. This is the worst I have ever seen this course. It's normally a beautiful course. Normally worth the money. This time it was awful. From tee boxes to greens. For being an upper level $$$ course, it should be shut down for a few weeks until brought back into the condition it is known for.

The fringe around the green was dead. Overall the course was in pretty bad shape. The greens were good and lightning fast

The course was in good shape and was a lot of fun to play. Look forward to playing here more often.

This is a pretty golf course set within the foothills of the beautiful Estrella community. I would say if your a beginner or novice this will be a tough course for you however if your a mid handicapper it’s a challenging and beautiful layout by Nicklaus Jr. the course was in very good condition did have some burned out areas and it was really wet they probably over water here in my opinion be prepared for a lot of mud on your golf ball and not a lot of roll. Greens ran very well I would consider them fast not a lot of break so you can make your putts here. I would definitely go back and play again. Prices for beers at $9-10 a beer pretty ridiculous they need to get a little more real here it’s still Goodyear not Scottsdale.

Estrella is one of the best courses west of Phoenix. The staff and course amenities are top notch. I’ve played this course many times and I always leave satisfied. It never has any pace of play issues and the course layout is phenomenal. Hole 17 and 18 are some of the prettiest views in Arizona.

Really like the course layout. Gets more challenging the further back you play. Pace was good for a Sunday and greens were smooth and medium fast pace, a few greens have trouble areas around the fringe. Overall a great time with great mountain views, and worth the hike out west.
