Golf Club of Estrella
About
Golf Club of Estrella is the very first golf course on a daily-fee basis to be designed by Jack Nicklaus II in Phoenix, where it makes its home in the master-planned community Estrella, and offers 18 holes of par-72 championship golf over 7,102 unique yards. The many tests of the golf course will impress every level of golfer - though a choice of tee sets ensures no one will get in over his or her head. Desert and wash spaces require golfers to vary their shots while they take in vistas from the fairways shaped to the contour of the land and framed in the Sierra Estrella Mountains.
A round of golf at the Golf Club Estrella kicks off on Morning Star, a par 4 that measures 359 yards from the black tees. If you stick to the black tees, you'll need to conserve your energy for The Arroyo, the 16th hole, a par 5 that measures 605 yards. After that, Evening Star, the 18th hole, will be a relative breeze, at par 4 and just 437 yards from the black teees.
Once the round of golf at the Golf Club of Estrella is over, head back to the Player's Grill Restaurant for American pub fare and Southwestern snacks.

Estrella is highly recommended
Played 7-21-26. The course is in great shape right now, Tee boxes are leveled, fairways are lush, greens are smooth. The rough is long, hard to hit out of. They did a great job maintaining the course in the heat.
Estrella is coming back.
Having played here about a month ago, I was very happy with the course conditions today. The fairways were well maintained. The fringe is almost completely repaired. Some of the sand traps are getting drainage repairs. They are getting back to premier conditions.
Great time to get on the course
the course is in great shape, the rough is pretty deep and you can catch some flyers but I'd rather have that than the muddy shaved and sparse courses I have played of late. Thanks guys for helping me out even though I caused the cart to appear dead.
Needs major attention
The greens were bare in many places. The bunkers lacked any sand to speak of and I found it better to chip than blast out of them.
No go for Summer play…
The tee boxes were a mess, the fairways were dried out and the worst were the collars/fringe. HORRIBLE. Most of the greens were in good shape, bunkers were rough, hard pan and shaggy lips. Luckily we only payed $41, anything more than that would have been a wasted day.
Wild Desert Mountain Venue!
The Golf Club of Estrella is situated on an amazing property with wonderful mountain views and lots of wildlife, including adorable precocious ground squirrels that might just come right up to you. Estrella is also ideal habitat for rattlesnakes, so be sure to bring a club with you should you decide to look for balls under those desert bushes. Layout is very challenging and scenically very complimentary to the surroundings. Staff are professional, proactive and courteous. A top-notch all-around facility for playing and enjoying the beautiful Estrella surroundings.
Will get better, but in rough shape right now.
Hot weather early in the year destroyed their grass. It's a beautiful course and a great layout but the conditions are not great right now. Most of the greens are in good shape luckily but around the greens is atrocious.
If you want to experience the layout it's a good time to play because of the minimal fees, just expect to move your ball around to the grassy parts.
I wish they would just shut down for a few weeks and really let the grass grow back, but it's a great bang for your buck deal right now!
So much promise
This course is a wonderful challenge. Great layout and scenic as can be. But right now the grass is rough and I can't recommend playing here. Hopefully they will get it back into shape and then it's a hidden gem again.
Terrible!!!
Absolutely terrible! Tee box suck not a green or level surface! Fairways are the softest conditions ever! Fringe is mud! Would not go back and there is no warning of the things they are trying to do! Junior national is in better condition!
Poor course conditions
The course was in very poor condition from tee to green. Most of the tee boxes were dead or dying. The fairways were thin and crusty. They were surprisingly soft in some dead/thin areas and hard in others. Nearly all of the aprons around the greens were crusty and painted green. The greens themselves were the weirdest part nothing putted true at all. Most of the greens were lightning fast while a few were relatively slow in comparison absolutely no consistency between greens. The plastic cups for the holes were barely below the surface so if you putt had any speed at all coming in the ball would hit the plastic and bounce or turn at the hole. The cup should be lower in the ground so it does effect the ball. Every single sand trap was just hard packed dirt or a mud puddle. There was no sand in them at all. Just a bunch of ditches on the course. The absolute worse part was the three some which turned the entire day into a nearly 5 hour round. There were rangers on the course but they did not once attempt to speed up these players who were clearly causing a log jam behind them. Really the only thing good about this place was the staff. (not the rangers who did nothing to keep pace.) I really wish we knew about the course conditions before we booked as we would have gone elsewhere.
