Toka Sticks Golf Club

About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

Super sandy putting greens
The course conditions were overall good. The greens were a bit challenging due to recent sanding. Great round and excellent value! Will definitely be back!
Green Conditions
The greens had more sand than grass, putting and pitching on to the green was difficult, the ball would slide instead of rolling.
Nice course, but not the greens
I found this course very acceptable on a scale of 1-5, giving it a 2.
The greens were a sandy mess! You couldn’t putt on them. My grandson and I had to pick up and take two to survive the round.
Unfortunately, the club house did not say anything about course condition whe they collected their $53 per person.
Fun
Easy fairway layout but greens are challenging to make up for it. Greens were patchy but still rolled true. Nice budget course to play when your game isn’t worth $100 round. Will be back.
2nd round this month still in very good shape.
Course is very good shape. Pace of play perfect. My wife and I played in 3 hrs 20 minutes.
Course is in good shape.
Tee boxes fairways and greens are in good shape. Bunkers are much better with a couple needing attention. Pace of play 3hrs 40 minutes for our 4 some. We will be back. Good job Toka Sticks. Thanks.
Rathole
I used to play this course yearly when I would come to Arizona for a week very pristine back in the day, but the last two or three years this place is turned into nothing but a rat hole not worth $85 by a long shot. will I play this course again no way unless there’s improvements made
Worth It!
Pace of play was tough. Course was worth playing and a fun layout. There are a couple tricky holes.
Staff was nice and did enjoy playing with another couple.
No Desert Here
Kind of an oasis in the desert. If you prefer fairways and rough that are a little more lush, check it out. A spot or two where you are in a bit of jeopardy at the tee box but fairways are generous enough that most golfers shouldn’t miss. A few greens are on the smaller side but not dished or super elevated nor sloped too much. Staff were super friendly and welcoming.
Toka Sticks
I play a lot of courses in the area. I thought the greens were in very rough shape. They were so hard that your was rarely making a mark. Some greens had big dead spots. The fairways were in good shape. Some of the tee-boxes needed to be moved from over use.
