Toka Sticks Golf Club
About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

Greens covered with sand. Tees were hard as a rock. Sand traps were wet and packed solid from excess water put on greens.
Avoid the sand traps
Tea boxes and fairways in average condition for the time of year. Greens actually better than that. Sand areas virtually unplayable due to being wet and very Hard.
Great course - great price
Needs colored flags for the holes / but everything else GREAT!!
Enjoyable Round of golf
Some good challenging holes …good group that I was paired with.
At the right price it's worth playing.
Some of the tee boxes were pretty beaten up or dry grass from lack of water.. The greens were somewhat slow. At best this is an average Golf Course. Maintenance requires more work as there are many dry areas and irrigation is very spotty. The Pro Shop staff and the starter were pleasant and friendly. The starter put our foursome on the golf course a half hour ahead of our tee time as it wasn't busy. Given the overall condition of the course it isn't worth any more than $50 in High season.
Course is in great shape
Fairways are in very good condition. Greens are in good shape also. Doing a good job looking after the place. Was late for our tee time (my mistake) and staff made accommodations to get us out fairly quickly. Good experience.
Course was in nice condition. Greens were in very good shape. Round was a little slow but to be expected here this time of year. Very good track for the money. Staff was extremely nice from check-in to the Cart Lady. Will play this course again.
A hidden gem when in good shape
A great value when in shape, the greens were good, a bit slow but consistent. Challenging little layout with plenty of doglegs and a beast of a ninth hole (tight dogleg par 5). Pace decent for a Saturday (almost 4.5 hours) and there was a beverage cart. Nice staff.
Worth playing
Course was fun to play, challenging enough but not difficult. Grass is thin or non-existent in most of the rough. Greens are slower. Played behind a couple slow foursomes. Staff was great, don't forget to tip for their service.
Cleaned up and pretty healthy
My last round here was last summer after a monsoon that took down quite a few of the big Eucalyptus trees and made a mess of the course. It is in much better shape now, most of the greens were good and the fairways were greener than most of the other courses I have been playing this winter. The only issue is the sand traps, for the most part they are just clean packed dirt. We used to play here regularly but our league was chased out for some reason.
Expect the normal wait
Well if you have played this course before your aware of the slow pace, luckily we were prepared and were able to have some conversations between the holes. What is also terrible the lack of any effort to have a good time when playing $5 for a can of Beer is utterly ridiculous, no cart girl/guy. The course is in great shape, staff is cool, but come on, run some specials and you might increase some of your profits and lower your green fees, yet all green fees in Arizona right now are WAY over priced.
Basic course
Not to much variety to the course. Course was in good condition, but very wet in places. Probably not my go to course but not bad for the price.
Reasonable price.
Course in decent shape. Reasonable price. Staff extremely friendly.
I goofed
Oops, I thought my reservation was the 29th - so I missed this round of golf.
My bad.
