About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

First time out from Canada
Friendly golf shop, good selection of merchandise with more to come, Easy to deal with staff. Course was in great shape for this time of year, but the greens were very slow due to winter grass, they will get better!
Course had no water and the ladies washroom was out of soap, not good for covid times! Fairways in really good shape and pace of play was just under 4 hours.

Really like this course, I have played it between 5 and 10 times. My friends and I really like this course.

Course was in great shape greens were pure just got paired with some guys that were slow so sorry to the rest of the course but it wasn’t us

THEY OPENED TO SOON AFTER OVERSEED.
ROUGH ALONG CART PATH ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE YOUR BALL.
CLUPS OF MOWN GRASS IN ALL THE FAIRWAYS, AGAIN, IF YOU ROLLED INTO THEM, GOOD LUCK ON FINDING YOUR BALL.

It was cart path only. lumps of grass on the greens, and they were bumpy. The washrooms on the course were discussing.
What Happened…
Got there and the greeters were nice as well as the cashier. Snack bar was out of just about everything… the pace of play was horrendous! Waited 10-15 on every tee box and there was clearly a group 2 ahead slowing down the whole course, but no ranger in sight! Called the club house and no one answered. The greens were also way too tall, I understand they are back from over seeding, but the grass was established enough to not have the greens like that. For what we paid, that was not worth it and the slow pace of play took an hour+ away from my day.
Overseeding Next Day
With overseeding to begin the next day (not advertised as such), course was in poor playing condition (fairways scalped, sand traps with a mere dressing of sand,, greens exceedingly slow).. Hopefully all will improve in several weeks …. just not today.

Some false fronts are a bit weary. Not country club style but we’d play again before overseeding

Mature course, wiiiiiiide open fairways
I love this course! The layout is amazing! Plenty of shade trees, not too many water hazards or bunkers. If it weren't for slow players and lack of a ranger to hurry them up, it would be perfect! Really friendly staff and the course is my absolute favorite (distance from house vs. conditions vs. price).
