Cave Creek Golf Course

This is a great public course, the only thing missing is cart paths.

Welcoming staff. Fun course. One of few courses in area that was not cart path only.

In great shape, great layout and challenging but fun to play.

The course was pretty good. The greens were slow but nice, just slow. The fairways were good but if you got off the fairway there was very little grass. Overall it was good, nothing really stood out.

I bumped up the rating a bit because I got a really good Hot Deal. First this was Not a cart path only situation which was nice…but even nicer because the paths were more like trails. The course was a decent desert layout a little thin on grass. But it was playable. I’d probably play again if the price was right.

I play a round at Cave Creek every November on Vacation. This year the course was in much better shape. They cleared out all the trees and shrubs in the canyon. Much more appealing and you might be able to find a ball if you hit one there. Greens rolled true and were a perfect speed. Well Done City of Phoenix!

Nice course to play. Wide open and straight for the most part, but you still need to place shots to score. Greens are small and some have a good deal of slope. My wife found it a bit long at 5600 yards off the front tees.

Some fairways had some bare spots, but overall in good shape. Greens were in very good shape as were the sand traps. It is exposed so the wind will definitely affect play. Carts all have GPS and were in good shape.

Pace of play was a bit slow, but we were playing behind a couple of new golfers. So hard to tell if that was normal. It is a municipal Golf course so it draw a lot of new players.

This course is a good value and can be more or less challenging depending on the flag placements. Some of the greens have a lot of slope in certain areas and if the put the flag there there can be significant break to the puts. Course was in real good shape and pace of play was pretty good on this day.

The courses general condition was much more “rough” than expected. The fairways were just average for a “public” golf course, and the greens were slightly better. The cart paths were very rough and in many places nonexistent. The price to play, I would say is on the high side.

Beautiful day, overseed was ready for 90 degree rule with the gas carts. Loved the design of the golf holes. Periphery of course and bunkers are unfortunately not maintained. If this course charged $10.00 more per player, @200 players per day and let’s say 6 days a week, and then used this money for course maintenance, this track would be a gem. All that said, we enjoyed a 1:55 minute (4-some) front 9; however, something happened on the back 9. 2:35minutes!! Did that 4-some of young guys jump in front of us?! Marshaling would be helpful. Got a cheap hot deal rate which is only reason I played here. $70+ is way too much to pay here but AZ golf rates are ridiculous so that’s what they charge. Conditions were good for this course - have seen it in bad shape before. Greens still slowish from overseed but should be good in another week. Overall a good experience!
