About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Can't beat the price
Course was in OK shape but greens were extremely slow. Aeration not to long ago so that was to be expected.

Been awhile
Been about 10 years since I played here. Greens were a bit furry, but overall course was in good shape.

Nice public golf course
Great golf course, 4 stars cause golf cart paths are very rough, and some if the tee box's need grass. Love playing this course, great value.

Need work and water !
I have been playing this course for over 30 years, remember when it was a garbage dump and they came. out and put 32” of dirt over the whole course. Now after all these years the City of Phoenix would be wise to invest funds in upgrading this course.. Area that need work:
1. Increase water schedule
2. Improve all cart paths
3. Rebuilt sand trap with more sand.
4. Signage improvements between holes
5. Rebuilt tee boxes
6.. Level out 8th hole that’s like a battle field
If the other City courses like Encanto - Aguila - Old Maryvale and Papago are in excellent shape, maybe Cave Creek needs to fine a partner like Papago with ASU and the Thunderbirds and Old Maryvale. that’s partner with Grand Canyon College. Golfer don’t just want lower green fees they want a quality course for their dollar

Fun Course
Liked the course layout. Greens were punched however. Some pretty burnt out areas. Cart path is trash. The flood drain has tons of trash in it and smells.
All that said, I will be back to play again after the greens have healed, as the course is fun.

Worst course conditions of any muni in the USA
I’m 49 years old. I’ve played golf for 40 years. I’ve played on muni courses from the east coast to the west coast. I’ll never understand why Phoenix, where the sun shines 365 days a year, has worse course conditions than other places where they can only play golf 6 months a year. It makes no sense. Either the powers that be have no idea how to run a golf course, or they simply don’t care. Example- this week they half heartedly aerated the greens and course. I emphasize half hearted. The greens were punched, then sanded….but not all the greens were sanded because they didn’t order enough sand. And the greens havnt been mowed in days, it’s embarrassing. This is Phoenix. The Mecca of golf. The muni courses are still ran like it’s 1960. Literally.

Great summer conditions
Great condition for summer time in Phoenix. Challenging coarse but fun to play. Great price compared to other coarse in Phoenix Scottsdale area.

Cave Creek Golf Course
The course has a great layout and the shape for the summer is average but the greens are in good condition except for number nine. Driving range is nothing to right home about but the price is right with the pass. One of my go to courses.

Value for the Money
Course was in decent shape. You always expect the burned out patches this time of year. Fairways were good but could be patchy. The greens were actually in great shape other than #9. They rolled pretty good. Overall I would recommend for a good value.
