About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Rules
From Attire to courtesy, this course does not fit the average regular player.
Numerous times, the person behind us hit into us, even on par 4 greens. Beyond rude.
We were held up not only from twosome in front of us, in which one twenty something guy was wearing yankee jersey, but also from more than once, a group showed up from nowhere and went in front of them.
There was even a homeless man walking the very poor cart path on I believe the 4th hole.
I will not be back, not even for free.
The pace of play was terrible! 3 hours 45 minutes to play 13 holes, so we packed it in. There were at times 4 foursomes on the same hole! Whoever constructed the greens should retire! Big greens with pins on slopes-ridges and extremely fast are not for the average player! No wonder it would have taken 5 1/2 hours to play

Course in decent shape. Pace of play sucks, over 5 hour round mid week. Pro shop staff ok, not to welcoming, but it a muni course. I'll play it again but hopefully not for over 5 hours a round.

Outrageously slow play with terrible greens
It was excruciatingly slow pace of play combined with terrible green. Would not recommend this course

Nice day on the links
Greens: very consistent and quick. Some damage/disease but did nit effect roll. Some extremely challenger and close to not being fair.
Fairways: very nice and in good shape
Rough: a little sparse and dry,
Tee boxes: most were in good shape

Windy
It was really that day. I gave up after 9 holes. The balls on the greens were being blown by the wind. There was an employee who seemed not to like his job. He was in charge of the carts. A short older fellow who seemed really stressed out.

Solid course, tough greens
We had fun! Good lay out for a muni. Some rolling hills and some water. Greens were very hard, fast and undulating. A few 4 putts! (Ouch!)

Ok muni course with above average practice area
First time playing here, and it was a good experience. Graham, very dried out and course a little rough on the fairways. Carts are showing your age as well. It’s still fun to play and excellent afternoon rate.

Rough Track
Tee boxes and fairways in good shape. Rough was dry, hard, and in some places dirt. Green surfaces were pretty good, but pin placement was crazy, not friendly at all. Course was a bit overpriced though it was “in season.” “Could be a great track.”

Challenging course, won’t be back
The course was in decent shape for the price. Greens were extremely fast and difficult. Round was slow but not horrible. The amount of garbage, the homeless encampments and gross bathrooms seriously affected my impression of the course. This course made me willing to pay the extra $50-60 for my next round. You get what you pay for.

Poor course
Poor condition on fairways and greens. Cart paths almost unusable, broken cement, deep ruts in gravel cart paths. Play so slow, we played barely 9 holes before dark & paid for 18 holes

The potential to be so much better
Greens were in very good shape. Course employees were pleasant. Some of the fairways were well conditioned but others needed work. The cart was clean and it ran well. The course also allows walking. The layout of some of the holes was confusing and would be improved with an alignment pole in the fairway. The bunker sand was hard in most of the traps. The cart paths were perhaps the worst of any course I have played. Mostly dirt, puddles and very uneven turf. All things considered, you get what you paid for.

good course for reasonable green fee
course was in fairly good shape, fairways were a good length and no major spots; greens rolled at a moderate pace and pace of play was 4 hours. For this time of year is good. Staff, pro shop, starter and grill were friendly and attentive.
I recommend Cave Creek.
