About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Bang for a buck
reasonable tee boxes, fairways and greens with an occasional peak into shanty town. I only play here on the cheap because the city of Phoenix has lost their dang minds when it comes to rack rates at their municipal courses.

Rough
Gas carts, no cart paths, beat up driving range. Course conditions were below average. The layout and the greens are interesting.

Greens
Tough greens not use to the p ace on greens. Lots of breaks and mounds. Challenging for a weekly golfer. Enjoyed the round didn’t enjoy my score but not the courses fault.

Surprisingly fast greens
Typically, a muni track seems to have slower greens. On this particular day, Cave Creek had lightning fast greens, which I love! They were also about as true as you could ever expect from a muni track. Good day on the greens!

Slow
Had 315 tee time didn’t get out until 345. After hitting tee shot on 1 waited 10 minutes for the green to clear. Saw a group coming back in and they said it was only getting worse. Ended up leaving after one shot. If you have all day to play a round you’ll have a great time. Not sure a sub 5 hour round is possible. No starter and no ranger to control pace of play.

Poor course
Fairways all run along side each other. Often difficult to know Where to shoot..
. Greens good but very difficult.
Trash all over votes. Cart staff don’t have the courtesy to wear masks.

Cave Creek
SUper slow pace - really made it tough to enjoy as we constantly had to wait , and wait , and wait, golfed last 2 holes in the dark, over 4 hours, no ranger to move people along:(
Course conditions are really good, nice staff, just bummed about the pace, may not come back
