Summertime treat
I have played Encanto several times during the summer over the years and must say it is always in good shape compared to many courses in the Valley..
So many of the other courses are still transitioning out of winter grass. Encanto’s Bermuda is growing strong now
Just a heads up. The practice green is being reconstructed and the Par 3 5th green and traps are being reconstructed. There is a temp green on that hole
Greens are rolling about 10 but are true. Pace of play is always good.
Great course for newer players
This course is awesome for newer players. Played it today and it was a really easy course to play. The course is in great condition for the summer as well. Really wide fairways, you have to really be trying to lose balls on this course. Lot of nice long holes for those who enjoy hitting their driver a lot.
One hole has the entire green under construction so the hole is in the middle of the fairway. It’s quite strange but it’s okay all things considered.
Only downside of the course is that there are a couple times where it’s unclear where the next hole is. Could have better directions in that regard. It’s a lot of guessing and hoping you’re correct.
Nice course well kept!
Really nice! Just wish they had drinking water on the course.
Encanto Golf Course
Course was in great condition and as the temperature was well above 110 the pace of play was excellent due to limited players brave enough to be out there. Finished the round in just over 3 hrs and was almost ready to try it again.
Hot day. Hot price.
Pace of play was great as hardly anyone plays when its 106*. The course itself was in very good condition, fairways and greens. Would play there again.
Great public course
In great shape! Greens rolled great!
Staff very friendly!
Encanto
The course is in pretty good summer condition. With a hot deal worth playing at the price. Hole #5 has a temporary green, they are completely redoing the green. So the hole is also much shorter.
Glad I tried it out
Good location for me. I don't understand the rough gravelly cart paths when some holes have paved.
Great summer deal
Got out at 6:08 - played in 3:50 Course in really good shape - greens rolling true but a bit slow, they mini punched them the prior Tuesday - did a great job
Great summer value
Basic Old School Park Style
This old style parkland course is good if your group has a wide variety of skill levels. It's wide open, you can hit your tee shot just about anywhere and still recover for par for the whole round other than holes 1, 9, & 18. However many / most of the greens have a significant slope back to front and are all of them are well guarded with at least one bunker, most have 2, that are as big as the green itself or even bigger. If your approach game isn't on point you're going to be in these all day long with challenging sand saves or off the back with impossible short side up-and-down situations. Otherwise it's forgiving basic cheap muni style completely flat city golf on typical southwest style dormant Bermuda in the first cut any where off of the fairway.
Avoid
We started our round 35 minutes late (we had a 10:48 slot so it wasn’t even twilight hours) due to course backup. It was a very nice day so there was no excuse for such a delay. The course overpacks w 8 min T times , and essentially turns the round into a 6 hour round. We routinely spent 10-12 minutes waiting to T off on every single hole. There was a par 3 where we literally had to watch three whole groups T off because the course was so slow. No rangers or anyone at all trying to encourage pace of play. Our first 9 took us 2 hours and 50 minutes. We bailed after 9- extremely disappointed.
Bumpy greens
Looks like I played shortly after they aerated their greens. Cups had not been moved for days so they were no longer round and shabby looking. Greens were bumpy and really lacking grass. I also think they were watering a lot so if a ball landed short of the green or if you attempted to bump and run when close to the green, the ball would just stop on the first bounce. Along with the wind, it made for a very challenging round. Hopefully, it was just bad luck I booked my round when I did.
Stay AWAY!!!!
Someone tried something new while plugging the greens. They are awful. Patchy, lots of dead spots, and bumpy. Literal automatic two putt. I have never seen such.a terrible job done by a super in 38 years of playing. This damage will last through the summer and into winter. Good luck with that. Just plain awful!!!!’nn
