Nice city of Phoenix golf course.
This was my wife's and my first time to play here. We were paired up with another twosome who were both nice to play with. Since we had to start on hole Ten at 1:36 PM
the last 3 - 4 holes were pretty brutal looking into the sun on the front 9. It was really so bright it was hard to tell when the twosome in front of us had cleared the green on 18. Otherwise a fun day.
A sunny yet refreshingly cool round
Given the price and volume of golf played on the course due to its downtown location, I was pleasantly surprised at its solid condition.
Tee boxes were in great shape, and the fairways were neat. The greens were hard and fast with some tricky pin locations.
The practice facilities were impressive, featuring a well-maintained driving range and dedicated areas for chipping and putting.
However, the pace of play was noticeably slow, which detracted from the overall experience. That said, the friendly and accommodating staff at the pro shop made up for it, as did the regular visits from the cart girls, ensuring players stayed refreshed throughout the round.
Nice greens
Course was in pretty good shape greens rolled really nice good speed to them played more expensive course and the greens were better here
Good value for average golfers
Walkable flat layout. Decent shape. Very few areas to get in serious trouble. Would play play it again,
Ok Municipal Course
This city course is just ok. The greens are super fast and hard, the fairways aren't bad, and the tee boxes aren't that good. For as busy as this course seems to be, more money should be invested into it for a better experience.
Holiday golf outing
The greens are in great shape. They are true and very quick. If you are off the fairways or miss the greens it's a bit damp and may get a thin lie that's not so great.
I will give props to the greens keeper and course maintenance 👍👍
Enjoyable track in middle of Phoenix
Great conditions in all aspects! Pace was surprisingly under 4 hours with very few delays. Played with a foursome and we all respected the pace and each others shots. Only drawbacks were stip on front nine and relatively flat course. All fairways were in great shape, sand traps actually well maintained with daily takings and greens were a 9 of 10, especially on the back. Beautiful view of tall buildings downtown and amenities were fine. Tavern was real nice with remodel a few years back and hostesses were kind. Only downfall is price on GolfNow shows walking rate. However, $6 handcart and very walkable.
Great course
I have played this course several times and bring my friends out to play. We usually hit from the white tees about 6,000 yards. I have recently had couples on two different occasions come and play. They usually play the forward tees. But at 5700 yards they found it difficult. I don’t know why there is not more than 3 tee boxes offered. I think something around 5,000 to 5,200 would allow people who enjoy the game but get frustrated because it is hard to score. I believe this would be an easy fix as most of your holes have long fairways and you could easily set up another set of tees on the fairway 50-100 yards out and just make the change when you print new score cards.
I know my friends that I golfed with today loved the course but the reds were too long for them.
Sincerely
Joe Borg
