Coronado Golf Course
About
Coronado Golf Course is as excellent place for golfers to work on their short game and it is also great for beginners. The course is relatively flat making it pleasantly walkable. The greens are large and the fairways are lined with trees, but still have generous landing areas. The holes are quite challenging with water hazards and bunkers coming into play. The relaxed atmosphere and affordability of the course have made it popular among locals, yet the course is still surprisingly not crowded most of the time. Coronado Golf Course has convenient practice facilities, including a lighted driving range that stays open until 9 every night.

high price
For the price I paid I could have played an 18 hole course and the cart would have been included.
Not worth playing!
This course is a poor excuse for a 9 hole course. There is nothing about this course that is worth praising. GolfNow had it rated as a 3 star - I would only give it a 1 star.
Economical course
Pace of play moved right along. The course was in rough condition, perhaps because it's early in the season. The holes were not numbered so it was not easy to always find the next tee. A very basic course but then again, we didn't pay a whole lot.
Course
Just arrived an wanted to swing my clubs. Wide open 9holes of hard pan
Great place to work on your short game
I had a few hours on the afternoon I played so I booked a tee time @ Coronado and it cost me a whopping $9. For a $1/hole I have absolutely zero complaints about this course and I will in fact be back to play and recommending this course to friends for a nice and short chip n putt practice round. I recently got a new set of callaway clubs for christmas and I desperately needed to work on my irons. This course was PERFECT for that as most of the holes range from 110 - 175 yards (exec style course). There are a few "Par 4's" that you can use a driver or 3/5 wood if you like. No better feeling than driving the green on a "par 4" which I did on the 270 yard 9th hole! The only complaint I had was this is a CASH ONLY course and I didn't know that when I showed up. The gentleman behind the counter said I would have to go to the ATM at Albertons or circle K. I was really none to pleased with this but I guess I didnt have a choice. Upon my return the guy behind the counter could see I was upset for the inconvenience of having to get cash and he DEF turned a negative into a positive and offered to comp my cart rental. This guy and his wonderful customer service is the reason I will be returning to this course. I have been in the hotel industry for 9+ years and I will tell you, anyone can leave a customer in a bad mood but being able to read a guest and knowing how to turn the situation around is what makes the difference and he certainly did that for me. I call that "heroic hospitality." Overall, great job Coronado, I'll be back this weekend.
The course was wet in spots. Overall condition was poor.
One Word: Horrible
Wanted to take my wife out who is beginning to pick up the game and I hope I can erase this from her memory.
Coronado 9 is the worst condition golf course I have played in the valley. I understand its was the start of summer season, but there is no way it should have been this brutal. Do yourself a favour..........when your looking to play an executive course, head to Encanto, Aguila 9, Augusta Ranch or Rolling Hills. At least they have a maintenance staff!
And I have never heard of a course that only accepts cash?? Brutal
The reason we golf.
I had a great time playing Coronado golf club.
It is golf at its true essence.
I was on vacation in Scottsdale from Las Vegas.
While down in Scottsdale I played a couple of premier golf resorts. Arizona Biltmore and The Phoenician.
I had more enjoyment playing the little 9 hole course at Coronado golf club. The reason being you had regular people playing golf for the love of the game. And not these corporate phonies or elitist that play at the big resorts. I love the history of the place as well.
I found out it is the oldest golf club in Scottsdale.
How cool! !
Never Again
Monday I played this course "twice", i.e. the first time and the last time. It's basically a cow pasture without the cow chips. There were plenty of golfers on the driving range and course so I guess they do a good business. The only plus for me was Rolling Rock for $1.50 in the clubhouse.
Great Experience
For the price, it is a bargain, if you want to walk and are just warming up for the season. We will definitely golf it again.
Fair Price for a fair game
This is not a "blow you away" course. It's a throwback muny course designed to let you get out and play. It is a fair test for a good value.
Course not ready for play
This course should not have been offered on Golf Now as it was not ready for play after overseeding. None of the holes were open for play and two of the holes (out of 7) were closed completely. The holes we could play consisted of a temp tee box in the fairway and a pin stuck in an oversize hole stuck in the middle of the fairway about 50 yards away. Basically a 7 hole pitch & putt in a pasture. We were not offered a refund but told we had to go to Golf Now to request one. No offer of raincheck or range balls or anything else. Great service! We hit our 7 chip shots & bounced a few putts & left. Pace of play was great as no one else was playing!
Cow Pasture
Do not waste your time on this pasture. With out a word of a lie this is the worst track of land I have ever golfed on. We have golfed it 3 times and it has got worse each time we came back. I understand it is October and the grass is burnt what grass they have left. The were aerating the greens and tee boxes and they were better after they were ripped up than before. We were just walking up to No. 9 and a greens keeper came up and took away the tee markers and then he went to the green and removed the flag and cup. There was no warning they were closing the course as the web site is still taking tee times for today and tomorrow. No management, nobody cares. When you book on Golf Now it is $7.50 and when you pay at the club house, as we did, it was $10.00 you got to wonder what is going on. We have golfed on courses from the South Pacific, Dawson City Yukon Terr. in Canada's Arctic, to all over North America and have never been subjected to such a farce as Coronado. We will not be back ever.
A great course to play for the new golfer
Recognize the course for what it is---a great place for the golfer new to the game, junior golfers or anyone who is trying to learn and improve their game. There are 4 short par 4s & 5 short par 3s. It's not intimidating which is great for new golfers and nice for seniors who maybe don't hit as long but want to enjoy 9 holes. You can't beat the price. The greens were not bad and the fairways were okay. I've seen worse conditions at far more expensive course. It has a good driving range for the more experienced golfer. It seems like the owner is trying to improve the overall conditions. The course has been around for years and definitely has its niche in the golfing community.
A fun 9 hole for some short game practice.
It was a pleasurable afternoon. The course is fun with only a few minor challenges. The pace was great; no golfers behind me and I had the opportunity to play multiple balls. The hazards weren't so bewildering; I was able to recover errant balls from the bushes and water. Overall it was fun and I will return for more much needed par 3 practice.
cheap and wide open
This is not a nice looking course. However I wanted to walk 18 holes and this was easy to walk. It is very cheap as well. Just manage your expectations because it is very cheap. The practice facilities are actually nice. Lighted driving range As well.
Play Coronado
A quick, easy, and forgiving nine. Nothing to intimidate the occasional golfer. An easy walk, if you are so inclined. The rental clubs come in carry bags.
Course for Average Players
This course offers a good variety of pars for the intermediate player. Course is pretty flat with a couple water hazards no bunkers. . Fairways are basicly brown while greens are in good shape. Look forward to playing this course again and probably will walk it.
