Coronado Golf Course
About
Coronado Golf Course is as excellent place for golfers to work on their short game and it is also great for beginners. The course is relatively flat making it pleasantly walkable. The greens are large and the fairways are lined with trees, but still have generous landing areas. The holes are quite challenging with water hazards and bunkers coming into play. The relaxed atmosphere and affordability of the course have made it popular among locals, yet the course is still surprisingly not crowded most of the time. Coronado Golf Course has convenient practice facilities, including a lighted driving range that stays open until 9 every night.

Value course
A quick 9, reasonable course conditions. Cash only. Lighted driving range open till 9pm.
Good for practice
This course is in rough shape. I played The front 9. The tea boxes are in poor condition. There are no cart paths. The fairways also need some TLC. The driving range does not contain their golf balls so there are numerous balls on the ninth fairway.
It's a good place to take a few extra shots because there aren't many people on the course at 9 AM
Fun
I've been trying to sharpen my iron skills and this was a great cheap course to do that. Some insanely short par 3's that you can reach with a 56 and some at 170. if you want to work on driving/putting go somewhere else. really fun though to hit every green in reg and shoot close to even par. Great practice course overall, especially for the price.
Good practice course
Played in back of league that was extremely slow and back of twosome that lacked golf etiquette. Course needs better greens. However Scottsdale needs to keep this course because of practice facilities.
You never have a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression
A decent beginners course. 3 of the holes were flooded out so we were able to play 6 holes twice. The course lacked ball wash stations and hole markers which would have helped a lot. This was our 1st and last time playing this course.
Improved
This course has greatly improved. I'm not sure if its all the rain that Scottsdale has had or if its new management, but the course is really nice. Their biggest problem is the lack of signs, indicating where the holes are and the distance.
high price
For the price I paid I could have played an 18 hole course and the cart would have been included.
Not worth playing!
This course is a poor excuse for a 9 hole course. There is nothing about this course that is worth praising. GolfNow had it rated as a 3 star - I would only give it a 1 star.
Economical course
Pace of play moved right along. The course was in rough condition, perhaps because it's early in the season. The holes were not numbered so it was not easy to always find the next tee. A very basic course but then again, we didn't pay a whole lot.
Course
Just arrived an wanted to swing my clubs. Wide open 9holes of hard pan
Great place to work on your short game
I had a few hours on the afternoon I played so I booked a tee time @ Coronado and it cost me a whopping $9. For a $1/hole I have absolutely zero complaints about this course and I will in fact be back to play and recommending this course to friends for a nice and short chip n putt practice round. I recently got a new set of callaway clubs for christmas and I desperately needed to work on my irons. This course was PERFECT for that as most of the holes range from 110 - 175 yards (exec style course). There are a few "Par 4's" that you can use a driver or 3/5 wood if you like. No better feeling than driving the green on a "par 4" which I did on the 270 yard 9th hole! The only complaint I had was this is a CASH ONLY course and I didn't know that when I showed up. The gentleman behind the counter said I would have to go to the ATM at Albertons or circle K. I was really none to pleased with this but I guess I didnt have a choice. Upon my return the guy behind the counter could see I was upset for the inconvenience of having to get cash and he DEF turned a negative into a positive and offered to comp my cart rental. This guy and his wonderful customer service is the reason I will be returning to this course. I have been in the hotel industry for 9+ years and I will tell you, anyone can leave a customer in a bad mood but being able to read a guest and knowing how to turn the situation around is what makes the difference and he certainly did that for me. I call that "heroic hospitality." Overall, great job Coronado, I'll be back this weekend.
The course was wet in spots. Overall condition was poor.
One Word: Horrible
Wanted to take my wife out who is beginning to pick up the game and I hope I can erase this from her memory.
Coronado 9 is the worst condition golf course I have played in the valley. I understand its was the start of summer season, but there is no way it should have been this brutal. Do yourself a favour..........when your looking to play an executive course, head to Encanto, Aguila 9, Augusta Ranch or Rolling Hills. At least they have a maintenance staff!
And I have never heard of a course that only accepts cash?? Brutal
The reason we golf.
I had a great time playing Coronado golf club.
It is golf at its true essence.
I was on vacation in Scottsdale from Las Vegas.
While down in Scottsdale I played a couple of premier golf resorts. Arizona Biltmore and The Phoenician.
I had more enjoyment playing the little 9 hole course at Coronado golf club. The reason being you had regular people playing golf for the love of the game. And not these corporate phonies or elitist that play at the big resorts. I love the history of the place as well.
I found out it is the oldest golf club in Scottsdale.
How cool! !
Never Again
Monday I played this course "twice", i.e. the first time and the last time. It's basically a cow pasture without the cow chips. There were plenty of golfers on the driving range and course so I guess they do a good business. The only plus for me was Rolling Rock for $1.50 in the clubhouse.
Great Experience
For the price, it is a bargain, if you want to walk and are just warming up for the season. We will definitely golf it again.
