About
The golf course at the Sun City Country Club provides a challenging championship course in an elegant setting. The semi-private course has a tight layout with fairways that are lined with trees and bushes. The trees provide plenty of shade, a welcome asset on sunny days. The greens play at medium speed and they are consistently in good condition. Several of the greens are elevated and sloped. A water hazard comes into play on three holes on the course. The seventh, a 153-yard, par-3, hole is the signature hole. It requires a tee shot over water that has to carry at least 125 yards. The upscale Sun City Country Club offers fine dining options as well as an experienced and helpful on-site golf pro.

Didn’t like the old man who was fixing ball marks on a green. I don’t even think he worked there. He was making smart aleck comments to every golfer that went through.

Great value
They did Overseed early so it was nice to play a decent course that wasn’t CPO this time of year without breaking the bank. One of the better Sun City courses.

Pace of play
Being first tee time of the morning, there should be no reason for the round to take 4.5 hrs. Catching the men’s club on the back nine is unacceptable the course staff was not worried how long or how backed up the course got. If you are in town for a golf weekend I do not recommend this course if you are planning on doing anything else in the day.

Disappointed
Took our annual Scottsdale trip knowing most courses are after overseeding, and car path only. Read the reviews and booked Sun City. This was the worst of the 4 courses we played. Also played Duke at Rancho El Dorado... same price, but Duke's course was vastly superior. Trilogy at Vistancia....same story, similar price but Triolgy was much more of a pleasurable experience to play. Sun City pace of play was horrendous! Waited to tee off on every single hole, course was shabby, and bunkers were hard packed dirt, not sand. They should not have opened so soon after overseeding, and they should have kept carts off the fairways longer. Friendly staff didn't make up for the poor quality of the course. Will not be going back.

Plenty of trees lining the course
First time playing this course and was happy with conditions and course layout. Layout was pretty straight forward with plenty of trees along most of the holes. Didn't feel like desert golf. Sand traps were a little firm but not too bad.

Good value
Sun City country club is in good condition right now. I don't remember seeing any dear does in the grass. It's also nice to not have to deal with desert hazards on this course. We were still at the 90 degree rule for carts but they just overseeded in early October.

Monsoon rains and wind!
We were lucky to miss the morning monsoon downpours and got in 9 holes before the weather turned terrible. High winds, lightning and incredibly heavy rain chased us off the course before we completed #10. We were on Cart Path Only rules so it was a bit less desirable and due to the morning rains, the greens were unpredictable. Would like to try it again but are running out of time before we head back to Canada.

Fun Course
Enjoyed my round. Fairways a little spotty. Greens were good. Looks like they were getting ready for overseeding.

Getting ready for overseed
Not a fair review as course is cut down and dried out. Always a challenging course. Give it about four weeks and it will be in the shape that makes it challenging and fun.

Nice layout not to much trouble to get into.
They will be closing soon for winter seeding. I will definitely be back in November to check it out again.
