North Golf Course at Sun City

About
Located just south of Grand Avenue in Sun City, Sun City North Golf Course's trademarks are the doglegs and large trees that are present throughout the course. It has many other challenges to offer including plush, elevated greens and numerous sand bunkers. Placid ponds also create water hazards that come into play on two holes. The well-maintained course is relatively flat with plenty of shade, making it enjoyable to walk. The Sun City North Golf Course facility has several amenities including a putting green and chipping area. There is also a fully stocked pro shop and full service grill and deli.

Very slow
We started at 1230 and couldn’t finish before dark because there were people stacked up all thru the course. It seemed overbooked but others that that a nice little course
Good Bargain
This course is a good bargain at the right time. It’s in pretty good shape from tee to green. Good variety of holes nicely laid out.
Good Value
Good value course for peak season. Would never play here in the summer since the elite courses are affordable by then. But this is a great spot for peak season since it’s affordable and relatively good course conditions. Retirement community golf course so it’s perfect for walking.
Always Enjoyable
Check in pretty quick. Course in decent shape. Greens very good and consistent. Pace was decent. Like the course.
Lack of carts
When we arrived there were no carts available, either ride on or push. Pro shop was not sure when some would be available as they don’t seem to track who has rental cart or who uses private cart. We were advised wait could be 20 minutes, or a hour or two. We decided to wait and it was about 1/2 hour past our tee when a cart became available. First hole is alongside driving range and fairway had a bunch of white driving range ball on it as no screen to keep them off. Tee boxes need work especially forward tees. Fairways were very hard and the area around greens and fairways were dead grass. Greens themselves were a pleasant surprise. Contours made them a interesting putting challange as long as your approach shot stayed on green. If it just rolled off, expect it to go 10-20 feet past on the dead grass. Three if the par 3’s were backed up 3 groups and there was no sign of any Marshall
Of the 7 courses we have played over the last 12 days, by far the lowest rating from our group
Had to wait a half hour to get a cart ! Never heard of a golf course not having enough carts so you can tee off on time!!!
Zero customer service; inflexible
Had 1:22 tee time, arrived an hour early. Since covid course doesn't include cart with Hot Deal and doesn't guarantee cart will be available at tee time. We opted to wait for a cart to come in but in over an hour not one group ever came off the 18th hole. Staff never even considered checking out where the backup was. Our tee time cane and went and the starter, Ron, just kept other groups playing thru ahead of us. The 1:37 group included a twosome that somehow had a rental cart. When I questioned Ron how they got one ahead of us he said "first come, first served". We were there an hour early and yet he gave them a cart that rightfully should have been ours. Additionally, they allow fivesomes here and since covid have allowed a many as 5 carts per group. Prior to covid the max was 3 carts per group. This fact alone had at least one group ahead of us with a rental cart as one of the 5. I've been thru this before at this course but kept giving them another chance. Nothing has ever improved and I won't be back.
Always enjoy this course
Smooth check-in, started on time, played in under 4 hours. Greens a little slower but still consistent. Bunkers in good shape. Enjoyed the round.
No carts
I had a 930 teatime for three people. When we got there to check in they told us there are already no carts available. They said they were already sold out for the day and there would be no cards available until noon. They only have 14 carts for service at this course
Conditions going down
Check in was very slow. One person with 10+ in line. Like South course fairways are thin. Looked sprayed. Should be in great shape but bare lies. Greens are very good still. Pace was ok.
Greens
Course was in decent shape. Had kids behind us hit into us once. Greens seemed a bit off. Some were very fast and others less so. Had to guess which was which. Ball did not seem to stay on line while putting.
Pace of play!
Slow, slow, slow. Ar several Par 3's there were 4 groups waiting. We only played 13 holes.
Walkable
A good old fashioned walkable golf course.
Pace of play is usually 4 hours or less.
Course is firm so look for a lot of roll out off the tee.
Greens are in great condition. They receive the ball nicely with a short iron and roll true with the putter
Good layout typical Sun City course pace of play sucked
