Poor staff and poor pace of play
The course screwed up our tee time reservation. They tried to charge us 40$ a player when we booked on golf now for 25 a player.
The starter was extremely rude saying we missed our tee time by 15 minutes because we were in the club house sorting out their mistakes. Just overall poor place of play as they back tee times 5 minutes from eachother. Unbelieveable
Poor experience, slow
Five-somes seem to be a regular occurence at Sun City courses, and I'm tired of getting stuck behind them. No ranger to be seen. The greens here are rather challenging, which doesn't help with pace of play. In general the house is rock-hard--greens were difficult to hold, and taking a divot in the fairways was almost painful. What looked like a great deal turned out to be a day of standing around, waiting, with four and five groups on a hole at many times.
What a find!
We used to golf there years ago then they were closed for remodel. The course is beautiful and the staff is great. Try it.
Challenging Course
Layout is above average with actual sand in the bunkers a rarity here in the Phoenix area. Greens were in good shape and are very undulating and rolling at about a 9 speed. Pace of play was slow 4 and a half hour pace and waiting on every hole. Second time playing good course to play if one can get a hot deal time.
Big backup of snowbirds on back 9.
Had a tee time with Golf Now, then after a day they emailed and said it was cancelled. After much confusion I had to play another course at another time. Course overbooked snowbirds on back nine so when we made the turn had to wait for a half hour, .Not cool..??
Slow Slow Slow
Five hour rounds unacceptable.
Several fivesomes slowed our foursome to five minute wait on EVERY SHOT.
Range balls not worth hitting.
The worst of the Sun City courses.
Interesting greens
The course was in OK condition. The ground is firm even in the fairways. The approaches to the slopped greens are not easy. Balls tends to bounce coming in. The bunkers had been freshly filled with very loose sand which made them doubly tough. I'd like to come back and give it another go.
Decent track for the money
Pace of play was a bit slow. Course conditions were okay if you kept it in the fairway. Inexpensive place to play if you are willing to wait until afternoon times.
Awful experience
Would not have booked if we had known that they allowed 5 players out per group. Got behind two different groups of 5, with one group with two walking. Played very slow
A good time
Fairways and rough were quite dry, so we all got more than generous roll out. Greens were watered so they received a good shot quite well. Greens at Riverside have quite interesting slopes and curves and there a lot of very tight lies just short of the greens so putting from 20 yards short is often the best option. All in all we had a great time. Pace of play was 4 hours and we all felt we received very good value.
I had a 12.07 tee time. There was no call up from the starter in the time I was there. The first tee was chaotic.I even had to help with the groups. Now, why are Golfnow tee times so late ?Plus we are usually put behind two or three groups of five-somes usually in their 70s-80s.
When I book hot deals there are usually only two of us.The other two or three must be buddies of the starter. So where does the other two Golfnow t-ts go?Just saying....
fivesomes
Every group that went out seemed to be groupes of five, Our group must have been the only foursome out on the course, took 4 and a half hrs. to play. Attendant at the golf shop was n't very helpful, wouldn't announce tee-times, Play was way out of order played with a twosome that was 15 minutes late.
Slow
Very nice course. Do not play on Wednesday. Men's day, groups of 5 and very slow play
Give it time
Fairways, especially around the greens, are a little sparse. Hopefully, they will fill in as the weather improves.
Add to that the roughs coming out of dormancy and it will make for a much better experience.
