Nice course at good Rate
First time playing the course. It was a very playable course. . the fairways were starting to show dryness, but it was still okay. Greens were challenging. It was a good pace of play. The course layout with water on the sides again made it playable, but if you can't hit a straight shot, watch out. Because it was getting dry in the fareways, you got lots of roll. Overall we enjoyed playing this course for the first time.
Fair challenge for a fair golfer
Fairways were in great shape. Greens a few rough spots. The greens are challenging. Lots of undulations. More than most in Phx. The roughs can be a bit rough. Patches of just dirt. One of my 'go to' course. Play here is always enjoyable
Course conditions getting dry. Played behind a 5 some did not allow us to play through - 2 some. No one ahead of the 5 some. Bunker slope had over a foot of sand and the base bunker was hard packed. If you hit bunker face it was buried. Aprons around greens were hard pack from carts be driven right up to green. Chipping was out extremely tight lies. Over played and ground maintenance was not adequate. Tee boxes were almost all sand.
Excellent West Valley course!
Course has finally come into great condition after major renovations have been completed last year. As with most Sun City courses, the greens are where the challenges are. Particular pin placements can make for almost guaranteed 3 putts, which makes knowing your putting skills better be on par to score well. From tee to green, course has developed back to its wonderful shape prior to the renovation. Great course for the now high winter prices. At $42.00, it's hard to find a course in this price range, in this condition & time of year, anywhere. Well worth the trip!
Pace of Play
we were stuck behind two groups of 5 who thought they were play at a PGA event....front nine was soooo slow the back was quicker when one group of 5 gave way to us ... a group of 3. WHY groups of 5
The greens are excellent.
Enjoyed the game, greens were is really good condition. Would definitely play again.
Poor staff and poor pace of play
The course screwed up our tee time reservation. They tried to charge us 40$ a player when we booked on golf now for 25 a player.
The starter was extremely rude saying we missed our tee time by 15 minutes because we were in the club house sorting out their mistakes. Just overall poor place of play as they back tee times 5 minutes from eachother. Unbelieveable
Poor experience, slow
Five-somes seem to be a regular occurence at Sun City courses, and I'm tired of getting stuck behind them. No ranger to be seen. The greens here are rather challenging, which doesn't help with pace of play. In general the house is rock-hard--greens were difficult to hold, and taking a divot in the fairways was almost painful. What looked like a great deal turned out to be a day of standing around, waiting, with four and five groups on a hole at many times.
What a find!
We used to golf there years ago then they were closed for remodel. The course is beautiful and the staff is great. Try it.
Challenging Course
Layout is above average with actual sand in the bunkers a rarity here in the Phoenix area. Greens were in good shape and are very undulating and rolling at about a 9 speed. Pace of play was slow 4 and a half hour pace and waiting on every hole. Second time playing good course to play if one can get a hot deal time.
Big backup of snowbirds on back 9.
Had a tee time with Golf Now, then after a day they emailed and said it was cancelled. After much confusion I had to play another course at another time. Course overbooked snowbirds on back nine so when we made the turn had to wait for a half hour, .Not cool..??
Slow Slow Slow
Five hour rounds unacceptable.
Several fivesomes slowed our foursome to five minute wait on EVERY SHOT.
Range balls not worth hitting.
The worst of the Sun City courses.
Interesting greens
The course was in OK condition. The ground is firm even in the fairways. The approaches to the slopped greens are not easy. Balls tends to bounce coming in. The bunkers had been freshly filled with very loose sand which made them doubly tough. I'd like to come back and give it another go.
Decent track for the money
Pace of play was a bit slow. Course conditions were okay if you kept it in the fairway. Inexpensive place to play if you are willing to wait until afternoon times.
Awful experience
Would not have booked if we had known that they allowed 5 players out per group. Got behind two different groups of 5, with one group with two walking. Played very slow
