Well laid out.
Everything was good, Except the GREENS. I've played thousands of rounds on hundreds of courses, and I have never played such horrible greens. The staff admitted, and warned the greens were hard and fast. An understatement! IF I played there again, after hitting a green (the ball would almost never stay on the green) I would declare a two putt, and move on.
Fastest Greens in Sun City
This a great make over of a golf course. I played the course three years ago and this not the same course it was. Tee boxes and greens are real great. These are the slickest greens I've played on this winter.
nice course
The course was a nice course to play. The only issue I had was the greens are very hard and fast. I would like to see the green be more receptive to the approach shots.
Terrible greens
We've played here twice in last 2 months but will play it no more. they didn't over seed the greens so they're dormant and like putting on a vinyl floor. My partner and I both putted for eagles on the first hole (par 5) and my putt ended up off the green 30 ft from the hole! there are no flat spots on the greens so with the dormant grass they're so fast and difficult they're no fun to play at all. I spoke to the pro in the club house and that's where I learned they are dormant and now remember when I played Coldwater a few yrs ago and they'd done the same thing with no over seeding to save money but lost golfers as no fun. now with new mgmt. they're seeding again and very fun to play there. I hope Riverview learns this lesson sooner rather than later.
Greens
Course was renovated over a year ago, layout is good. Greens were the problem, so hard and dry not one person in the foursome could hold a ball on the green. Had to play to the front of the green and then the ball would roll off to the lowest point of the green. Not sure why they haven't watered them. Will try this course again next year while in Surprise,AZ. for the winter.
nice layout with tough greens
pace of play was very good. fairways nice.the greens were the toughest part extremely hard and fast.our foursome were continually frustrated trying to putt
Needs TLC
New course that is extremely dry with hard fairways and super fast unputtable greens. Save your money for next year.
Greens are Unplayable
The overall course condition was very good but the greens were unplayable for the average (or better than average) golfer. Hard as concrete with severe slopes that won't hold a ball.
Challenging course, good value
First time I've played Riverview since their remodeling. The greens are excellent but very firm and fast. Fairways are nice and new fairway bunkers require more driving accuracy. Overall, it's a nice course to play and the pace of play was about 4 and a half hours.
Hit your spots
The staff were wonderful and the course was in great shape. Overall great outing
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a waste of time & money. I'm not just talking about the greenfees Impossiable to hold a green, horrendous. Only positive thing I can say is that the club house & staff are nice apparently this is where the money was spent.
Good times
My wife and I played in a five some today with 3 strangers. Played in 4 hours and 10 minutes on a full course. Our playing partners and the staff were outgoing and friendly. The greens were hard but that was to be expected for a course that just underwent a major renovation. The layout was challenging, the condition was good for the time of year and it was priced fair for the location. Glad we went with the majority of the reviews of people that enjoyed the course and played here today.
Overall
Overall this is a great course. We had good pace of play on the front nine, but starting off both tee boxes (1 and 10 ) presents a problem when we turned the corner. Pace of play was over 4 1/2 hours due to the fact of starting at both tees. If they held back after a time it would increase pace of play.
Go,someplace else
I read the reviews for this course and decided to give it a try. Save your money and time and play somewhere else. They have 5 some sort going off the front and back 9s. That was really not too bad as pace of play was really not a problem.
The course is not in good shape especially the greens. The greens are so hard that there was not one ball mark on any green. I could go for n but enough. Save your money and go some place else.
Course
The greens are like concrete. never did see where the ball hit on the green. Most time if you hit on the green ball rolled off. Lounge closed at 5.
Will not be back!!!!
The greens take the whole course down
When I am playing golf, I am always having a good time, wherever. but since I am rating the course, I must say that I was very surprised at the condition of the greens. They are beyond fast. And I am not whining, as I play on a lot of courses with fast greens. The ball rolls on these greens like a marble on a bowling ball. Completely unfair with downhill soft putts rolling off of the green everywhere. No way to score here. Rounds should be played with automatic 2 putt and move on. For a course that handles this many people, they would do well to slow up the greens, which would at the same time, speed up the play.
Hit the Beach!
First time playing the course since it was refurbished. The $6,000,000 was well spent. Loved the plethora of bunkers throughout which guard not only the greens, but the fairways. Their placements encourage accurate shots and a misguided one means a considerable challenge for the "recovery" shot. The greens were a bit slick, but that could have been due to the cold weather. Everything considered, it was a terrific experience.
Riverview needs a lot of maturing
Played this course over the years before last year's renovation. It was my favorite Sun City course because it was the most challenging and yet fair. And, it was fun. Now it is an exercise in frustration. It is now extremely difficult due ridiculously fast and undulating greens. Chips and putts don't hold the green. 90 yard wedge shots carom off the greens. I typically shoot in low to mid 80s but could not break 100 with multiple three-putt greens. I'll wait until next year and see if the course matures with age.
terrible greens
The layout of the course is just fine. The greens were unplayable, not because they were fast but because they were hard as concrete with dead grass rolled and painted green. Not sure what sun city courses are thinking. Very frustrating to hit greens in regulation and have a 25 yd chip from off the back of the green, only to be chipping back on from the front of the green. Unplayable greens contributes to the poor pace of play
This review is spot on.
