Course
The greens are like concrete. never did see where the ball hit on the green. Most time if you hit on the green ball rolled off. Lounge closed at 5.
Will not be back!!!!
The greens take the whole course down
When I am playing golf, I am always having a good time, wherever. but since I am rating the course, I must say that I was very surprised at the condition of the greens. They are beyond fast. And I am not whining, as I play on a lot of courses with fast greens. The ball rolls on these greens like a marble on a bowling ball. Completely unfair with downhill soft putts rolling off of the green everywhere. No way to score here. Rounds should be played with automatic 2 putt and move on. For a course that handles this many people, they would do well to slow up the greens, which would at the same time, speed up the play.
Hit the Beach!
First time playing the course since it was refurbished. The $6,000,000 was well spent. Loved the plethora of bunkers throughout which guard not only the greens, but the fairways. Their placements encourage accurate shots and a misguided one means a considerable challenge for the "recovery" shot. The greens were a bit slick, but that could have been due to the cold weather. Everything considered, it was a terrific experience.
Riverview needs a lot of maturing
Played this course over the years before last year's renovation. It was my favorite Sun City course because it was the most challenging and yet fair. And, it was fun. Now it is an exercise in frustration. It is now extremely difficult due ridiculously fast and undulating greens. Chips and putts don't hold the green. 90 yard wedge shots carom off the greens. I typically shoot in low to mid 80s but could not break 100 with multiple three-putt greens. I'll wait until next year and see if the course matures with age.
terrible greens
The layout of the course is just fine. The greens were unplayable, not because they were fast but because they were hard as concrete with dead grass rolled and painted green. Not sure what sun city courses are thinking. Very frustrating to hit greens in regulation and have a 25 yd chip from off the back of the green, only to be chipping back on from the front of the green. Unplayable greens contributes to the poor pace of play
Horrible greens
Greens are horrible,we had a group of golfers who normally shoot 80 or better and add 6 strokes to each round ,slope, placement, speed.
I agree with this review. This was once a fun and challenging course but now an exercise in frustration.
Fastest greens in town
First time playing since they reopened, lots of great upgrades. Pro shop now looks like a pro shop, fairways are new and in great condition, sand traps have real sand (not hard and crusty like most Sun City courses), and swapped front and back nine holes. Biggest change at the moment is that the greens are lightning fast. If you want to know what the pros putt on, check these greens out before they completely grow in. Was fun to play but be ready for a lot of 3-putts.
Nice renovations
Had not played the course prior to the renovations but was pleased to see the brand new larger tees. very nice. The layout itself is fun to play with a nice variety of holes. Golfers should be forewarned, the greens are extremely hard and fast given their newness. This adds quite a bit of challenge to your approach shots. The greens were really fast and there are a lot of undulations which make even short putts very tricky. There is too much sand in the bunkers at this time as they need some settling to occur. All and all a very enjoyable course to play and will get even better once the greens become a little more receptive.
Riverview
The course is in terrible condition. I played it prior to renovations and it was great, now it is awful. The rough is all dead grass, greens are terrible, and fairways are bare in many places.
Great course to play!
Loved it. For a beginner this is one of the best you can bet
not ready yet
Course was revamped a year ago and the greens are not even close to acceptable. Greens are so hard that chips and putts dont stay on the green. Plan on playing "automatic two putt" golf
Revamped and re-amped
Riverview lie dormant for a year and I was surprised at all the changes during the makeover. Wow, those greens are PGA Tour tough.
Still, enjoyed the round and the challenge.
Course is not long; played with my 88 year-old father, who hit from the gold tees, which he very much appreciated.
Huge bunkers with very fine sand, and lots of them surrounding the greens. Greens did not hold our approach shots very well, so we resorted to the "bump and run game" to avoid the traps, as the pin was usually in tight behind a bunker.
Golf carts appeared new... that was a pleasant surprise.
Never had to wait on a single shot, also a big plus.
Great renovations
Played as a 5some in 4 1/4 hours.
All aspects of the course in great condition.
Wide fairways are offset by undulating greens so overall somewhat challenging.
Good layout, particularly on front 9, compared to some of the other Sun City courses.
Very patient and friendly staff.
Great price on Golfnow.
Practice green by clubhouse is somewhat unrealistic.
Over Charging
This is the second time that we ran into problems with being over charged at the golf course. They charge you for a game of golf, add on the cost of a cart, then subtract $3.00 to get you down to the GolfNow price, and finally add in the tax.
I was charged one price while the other golfers in the group were charged another price. Interesting, this was the second time that this has happened.
While we enjoyed the course, it tends to put you in a bad mood starting off when you know that you are being over charged.
Nice and wide
I like this course because of its wide forgiving fairways. You can spray it around a bit without much penalty. It is nice and green with slick greens. It is hard to find a course with greens that undulate as much as Riverview.
Losing our great greens
Still have some of the best greens in the valley and I am saddened they are closing the course and re-doing them. It won't be the same. Please play it before December 1st so you can remember really undulating, fair greens.
Super course for locals
Great course! Very clean throughout, extremely patient and nice people working there. Only problem is that there is a need for a marshal for people playing two balls and extremely slow play w 5somes!
Other than that it is always a really nice experience at this course.
ran out of carts
We had a 12:30 tee time, but they didn't have any carts. at 1230 they finally had carts for the 12:00 tee; at 12:45 they got another cart for just 2 of the golfers who had a 12:07 time. We asked to take pull carts and walk the front 9 then get carts at the turn. they were very happy we offered that, but you would have thought they would have offered at least a bucket of balls for the next time, since "it would really help us out"
"I can't do anything about it"
Got to hole 11. There were 4 groups on it. One on the tee. One in the fairway 200 yard out. Another waiting to chip on. And finally a group on the green putting. Went to the clubhouse asking if we can get that fixed. He replied with the above line. Said to skip enough holes until it's open again. Not really a fix.
Old style, wide grass course with ridiculous greens.
The surface of the greens was nice and smooth. They ran true, but the greens are so sloped side to side and front to back that there is almost no flat spot on any green to put the hole. Putts from above the hole, barely nudged would roll 10 feet past the hole. I have never seen greens like this. They need to re-contour almost all of the greens.
