Nice Course
I'm a decent player in my late 40's and I found this to be a very nice straight forward course. Really nice greens that will challenge you. Not the longest course around @ 6400 from the back tees, which is fine for me. We had a 5 some for the front 9 but actually played in 2 hours. The back 9 we had four and got done a little under 2 hours so pace of play was excellent. I have played the Sun City Grand courses and they are very nice but I also enjoy the older courses. Riverview is very nice and makes for a very enjoyable day of golf at a decent price.
great layout and better than average condition
first of all I do not agree with your fifty characters. The course is in better than average condition. I enjoy playing the course and the rates are reasonable.
positive
Very good staff and a good golf course....
The speed of play is much better than any Scottsdale course where they never try and move weekenders along... The greens are great.....
A great golf day
Fairways and greens are in good shape. Sand traps are terrible and driving range hitting areas are generally very poor. Range itself is good with lots of good practice targets. Tee boxes need work as they were pretty chewed up in many places plus they are not very level in many other places. Still, this is a wonderful course to play and I know we will be back there many times.
Not a bad course
Overall not a bad course and it is in pretty good shape. I would play it again. One thing all Sun City courses need to do is quit allowing 5 somes and 6 somes, yes, I said 6 some, to play. We got behind a 6 some of grumpy old men who hadn't a clue what let the fast group through meant. Fortunately this was on the back nine. All in all good deal for the money booking thru Golf Now.
Greens need to be bulldozed!
These greens are like plates tilted at 30 degrees back at you. There are greens where if your putt stops near the hole, it will roll 10 -20 back at you if you are putting below the hole; or, if you are above the hole, forget it...you cannot stop it near the hole. Pro's wouldn't be able to manage these greens so amateurs don't stand a chance. They need to redo most of the greens for it to be a fair track....otherwise, don't waste your time or money.
Riverview SC
Course was in good shape, staff was okay, pace of play was horrible, unless you want to play behind two fivesomes and a threesome that couldn"t keep up with the fivesome go somewhere. And then add a threesome behind you that hit into you.
congested
Typical Sun City course. Flat, pretty straight-forward layout. And they love to send 5-somes out. When you run tee times every 7 minutes, it doesn't take much to back things up. 3 groups waiting on all par 3's. Pace of play wasn't too bad otherwise, but when you have to sit for 15-20 minutes 4 times a round it's pretty easy to decide not to play there again.
slow play behind 4 groups of 5 golfers.
enjoyed playing the course till i got to the back nine. they let 5 somes off the back before people making the turn (5 somes). pace of play for the front was great, pace of play for the back was an hour extra. if you dont mind slow play this is the course for you.
Good Course
Reading previous reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. The fairways and greens were in great shape. Greens are a little challenging but not overly difficult. There was a least one five some a few groups in front of us that slowed things down. Great deal for what we paid.
Riverview
Course overcharged me from golf now rate. Waiting for credit. I called after round from home as that's where my receipt was. They insisted to charge me for the cart. I was not happy.
beer
Nice course for the money if you catch the lower prices. 19th hole needs greater beer selection.
Not a Fan
Pace of play was fairly slow...two tee starts, and the typical Sun City 5-somes. What was described as undulating greens really means stupid severe back-to-front slopes...some with 6-8 feet of elevation change. I hear they are shutting this one down to re-do the course this Fall...good idea.
sloping greens
Loved the course.greens were undulating and fun to putt. Problem is they let out fivesomes who are oblivious to what is going on behind them the group in front of us had two open holes in front and three groups held up behind. They really should try to move play along.
Good conditions.
Course is in good shape. Just be aware that this is a no frills Sun City muni course.
If you want to become a better putter come here, challenging greens are the norm. Be below the hole!!
Major issue with this and most SC courses are the people that work in the pro shops/starters. While they are very nice people they just don't have much experience in the golf industry and it shows. Allowing 5somes in front 3somes off the first tee is just a recipe for disaster.
Since this is a muni course the 5somes usually have zero golf etiquette and have no clue about the back up they have created.
Good conditions, challenging greens, poor course management which leads to horrible pace of play.
