Sun City Lakes Golf Club - West Course
About
The 18-hole West Course at Sun City Lakes Golf Club is a private course with a traditional layout. The course is quite open and features a few interesting challenges. It is relatively flat, making it nice to walk although carts are available. More advanced players that mostly hit straight balls may not find the course challenging enough, but it is quite enjoyable for beginners and intermediate players. Notable holes on the course are the 3rd, 9th, and 18th since they can be played a few different ways. The Lakes West Golf Course facility, in addition to the course, has practice facilities including a putting green, chipping area, and driving range.

Iowa Bigmo
Pace a little slow, but fareways and greens were in very good condition. Some very tricky pin placements.
Fairways were over watered , had to keep moving our ball to a dry spot to hit. To much standing water in the fairways and around the greens. Wasn’t much fun that day
Cart Path Only
With wide fairways and a few challenges along the way, cart path only made this round just over 4 hours and a ton of walking!
Overall, a great course!
Lakes West
The course is still cart path only but I walked so for me it was fine. This is a good walking course. The grass is in good shape tee to green. Bunkers are good. Pace of play was great since it was an early afternoon round on a hot day. Got a hot deal and used a promo code so it was cheap.
Fair course, Slow Pace of play. At hole 7, 5 groups were lined up ready to go. Need to spread tee times out, but they’re money hungry so don’t expect it to be any better. Course looked good tho. Average layout. Not too tough a course.
Great value
The course was in very good shape, and the staff was awesome. The golf carts could use an upgrade. Overall the course is worth a play.
Course in nice shape
For the time of year in this heat wave we’re having the course is in great shape. The tee boxes and greens are great, with full and smooth grass. The fairways are in decent shape, better than most courses in the Phoenix area right now. Not many people on the course because of the heat. And I got a hole-in-one on #15! My 2nd ace!
Do not play in afternoon
Didn't realize that I booked for two without cart. Paid another $17 for cart. No water jugs on course, only a couple of water fountains and soda machines on the course and the food and beverage shop was closed when we made the turn at 2pm. Went 9 holes without drinking anything in 110F weather-not good for my friend or I.
Good until on greens
Course overall was in good shape. Most holes were set on slopes making for slippery putts.
Biggest complaint... plastic liners in cups were not set low enough below green surface. Several putts at dying speed dove in cup only to hit rim of plastic liner and pop out.
good shape
hot day, dry course in good shape.... not many players..... normal for June in AZ....
